SOMETHING VALUABLE…

Knowing that you have something of value to offer helps you place yourself in a higher position.

In one of those conversations with my big brother @starstrings01, he mentioned something like, “The way you value yourself is the way others would value you.” He also said, “Your skill, which is a value, should be monetized.”

In my walk with, I would say, the right company, there has been a positive change in the way I see things of value.

Ever since I started repairing electrical appliances and gadgets in my hostel; sometimes I repair them for free, other times I collect something small but I know this skill I have is rare and it is something of value.

Being the only one that repairs electrical appliances and gadgets, in a female hostel, is like a thing of honour but I never really saw how different I was until now.

Unto what made me talk about the right company and something of value. Recently, I repaired a faulty blender and if it were to be the me with the small mentality of value monetization, I would have collected in Nigerian Naira #300 or #500, but my roommate prompted me to collect something like #3500, I felt that was too high, so I decided to collect #2500. The funny thing to me was, she didn't beat down the price but brought out her phone to make the transfer into my account, very surprising to me. This was the beginning of how high the price I place on the things of value I have.

Now what I tell anyone coming to me for repairs is, "If I'm not around or have the knowledge to do it, won't the appliance still be labelled spoilt?" This statement made them imagine the state they would be in if these should happen.
