MY PLANS FOR MY FAVOURITE SEASON OF THE YEAR... CHRISTMAS

Growing up, I always looked forward to the end of the year. My paternal side had a tradition of always organising an end-of-year family picnic with all my relatives within and outside the state in attendance. I get to not only spend quality time with my favourite cousins and aunties but also play fun games, which allows us to bond more.

For this year's celebration, I will be travelling home to celebrate with my family and friends. Unfortunately for me, I will not be able to attend the annual family's end-of-year picnic, but I have other plans for the holiday. Some of which include:

  1. Shopping: I intend to go shopping immediately when I get home. My mum had always wanted a big Christmas tree; hence, I've decided to get one for her as part of her Christmas gift. I also have a list of a few people whom I intend to buy gifts for. Brainstorming about the gifts and finally coming to a conclusion was not an easy task.

  2. Thanksgiving: in appreciation to God for his so many blessings in my life and for the successful completion of my studies, I plan on organising a small Thanksgiving in church on Christmas day and also inviting a few people over to the house for a light refreshment.

  3. Hanging out with friends: My friends and I are planning a little hangout since it's been a while since we all came together due to distance. Spending quality time with friends gives us the opportunity to catch up, enjoy each other's company, and create new memories. One of them is hosting us at her place for three (3) days. I'm the one in charge of games because, when it comes to games, I am definitely good at organising fun games. I have a list of games that we will be playing. We have also made plans for a sip and paint activity and a karaoke night (I love karaoke, hence the suggestion for it). We plan to wrap it up with a visit to one of the orphanages in the state to spend time with the kids there.

  4. Alma mater reunion: the holiday season actually brings people from all around the country back home. I graduated from a secondary school that had representatives in almost all the states in Nigeria, and most states have a habit of organising a reunion party biannually or once at the end of the year. It's been years since I last attended the Jos chapter reunion, and since most of my friends also finished from there, we would be attending the reunion together.

This year's Christmas would also be my younger sister's first time celebrating it away from home; she's the baker of the house, and she enjoys making snacks and baking while I am her apprentice. The thought of preparing all the snacks and chops alone is quite exhausting, but I intend to start earlier than we normally do so I won't be stressed out. I'm surely going to miss her special sponge cake and tamarind juice.

Thank you all for coming to my blog🤗
