THREE VALUABLE TRAITS

So many times I have had people say if everybody can be like me, then the world will become a better place. Well, I am not left out of such statement too.

Statement come are often uttered because we all have expectations from people. This is not strange with the belief if they can be like us, such expectations will be met.

You will agree with me that nobody is perfect, but there are little traits we possess that can help cover up our imperfections. God has created us with those characteristics. However, it takes the Grace of God to help us make use of them in this perverse world.

If I am to talk about three valuable traits that I would love everybody to have in the world, I would rather go for: intelligence, Integrity(honesty) and sense of humor.

INTELLIGENCE.

Intelligence is the ability to cope with every situation of life, that is, the ability to learn, understand and deal with situations of life. By the virtue of my statement above, it is apparent that I am not talking of intelligence in terms of reading, assimilating and recalling alone.

It has been discovered that intelligence is not all about that. This is due to the fact that we now have four types of intelligence:

1. Intelligence quotient: this is related to learning.
2. Emotional quotient: ability to manage your feelings positively.
3. Social quotient: ability to communicate and interact with people and also to maintain healthy relationship.
4. Adversity: ability to positively maintain and overcome problems and negative situations that come our way.

These levels of intelligence vary in every human. Though they are considered innate, they can consciously be developed. I am not left out on this journey of development too. If you reading this article can develop this God given seed, the world will become a better place.

HONESTY AND INTEGRITY.

You are regarded as a person of honest/integrity when your ‘yes’ is ‘yes’ and your ‘no’, no. Integrity, in itself, is beyond honesty. It is what I call ‘the elder brother of honesty’, because, there is possibility of having the trait of honesty and not having an hint of integrity, but then, if you have integrity, you are honest.

You can be an honest person and still find yourself in some little act that can bring doubts to your confession. Honesty helps to build a life of integrity. Honesty is an innate characteristic, while integrity is learned. This is why it can be easy for an honest person to build a life of integrity. When one gets to this stage, getting involved with things that are not of honest report will become difficult.

For example, we might have heard of people who have gotten themselves involved in fraudulent activities to attain wealth. By my last statement, I am not referring to the ‘Yahoo Boys’ alone, but also people that that instigate fraudulent activities in their places of work. The wildfire of manipulation has spread across every sphere, and this is a resultant effect of a lack of honesty and integrity.

SENSE OF HUMOR.

In this current world, where everyone has one problem or another to deal with, and depression in every angle, the dire need for people with this trait is ultimately craved for. Nigeria is not suffering for the gift of this kind people. If not, most

Nigerians would have become victims of suicide. In my country, we know how to make jokes and cruise of every situation our country goes through. We have a lot of funny social media content creator.
My mum, for example, whenever she feels drowned in the world if depressed thinking, resolves to finding solace in watching funny videos.

Comedy has become a good source of money to those that are gifted in this wise. Not everyone can have this gift, due to personality differences. In my opinion, the rest of us that are not gifted in such wise should learn such funny things from such people so that we can duplicate it to others and make the happiness web spread.

We must also be able to see the funny side of things and situations. Leaders require this attribute to relieve tension of workers. They should also learn to say some funny things, to create light atmosphere.

I believe that with these, the world will be a better place to live in.
