Leadership for development a vision for a bright future

When governance is done with the people's interest at heart, the result is lasting peace, development, stability, and continuous progress. To become a leader, one needs a visionary mindset that is able to create long-lasting impressions long after and write your name in the sands of time, not to be forgotten in a hurry.

Governance done with selfish interest can only lead to rebellion and conflict, which can leave scars on every sector of an economy.

If I have the privilege of becoming the president of my nation, there's so much I would love to do, but in the circumstances that I have to do just two things that will improve the economy of my country, the first thing I would put in place is the issue of electricity.

We live in a digital world today, and in order to stay up to date and to be connected with the rest of the world, we need electricity, from keeping our gadgets charged to powering home appliances, and then not to mention the smooth running of firms and industries. I actually imagine a country where, instead of buying fuel to power generators, which cause air and noise pollution, natural electricity is available; then more revenue can be generated in the economy through the power sector.

Industries rely heavily on electricity for smooth running. Take, for example, a farm that's into the production of food. They will need electricity in order to store seeds before they are needed for planting, and eventually, when they are planted, electricity is needed for the pumping of water for irrigation. Talk about storage and processing, so you see the importance of electricity can not be overemphasized because it will also attract foreign investors.

The second thing I would do in my country to tackle the issue of electricity is to make sure that the petroleum products in my country are being refined within the country, so I would make sure I see to it that the major refineries that have not been functioning become functional. This way, more employment can be created, which will lead to an increase in the labor force of the country and an increase in per capita income.

Another thing this will do is stabilize the prices of PMS and also lead to a regularization in the price of transport, which is going to have a massive effect on the prices of goods and services because products are usually transferred from one place to another, and the vehicles through which these products are transported rely on petroleum products to run, and so if the price of petroleum is regularized, transportation can be regularized, and there isn't going to be so much price tax on the sales of goods and services.

The reality is if the prices of petroleum products are high, then the prices of goods and services are increased because at one point in time everybody has to move from one place to another using the service of road transport workers, but if the prices of petroleum products are low, then the resulting effect is a standardized price of goods and services across the nation.

These are two of the most pressing issues I would like to put in place as president, but the reality of the issue is I am not the president, but each and every one of us has a sphere of influence where we are leaders, and as much as possible, you can be the change you want to see around you because change begins with each and every one of us.
