I wish I can turn back the hand of time.

Regret is something everyone experiences at one point or another in life. It often comes from the choices we make or fail to make, and the consequences that follow. Sometimes, it is not about doing something wrong, but about not doing enough, not trying harder, or not believing in ourselves when we had the chance. Academic regrets, in particular, can stay with us for a long time because they shape our future and influence the paths we take in life.

Looking back, one of my biggest academic regrets was not taking my studies as seriously as I should have at an important stage in my education. There was a time when I had the potential to perform much better, but I allowed distractions, procrastination, and a lack of discipline to take control. Instead of focusing on my goals, I kept postponing serious effort, thinking I still had enough time to catch up. Unfortunately, that time passed faster than I expected.

When the results finally came, they did not reflect my true ability. It was disappointing to realize that I could have done so much better if I had just been more consistent and committed. That moment made me reflect deeply not just on my performance, but on my attitude towards learning and responsibility.

If I had the chance to go back, I would approach things differently. I would manage my time better, stay focused, and seek help whenever I didn’t understand something instead of ignoring it. I would remind myself daily of my long-term goals and the importance of discipline.

This regret has stayed with me, but it has also taught me valuable lessons. It reminds me that opportunities should never be taken for granted and that success requires consistent effort. While I cannot change the past, I can use what I have learned to make better decisions moving forward.
