A Replay of 1925 in the 21st Century
... electricity, water, gas ,gone just like that without an explanation.
Greetings and compliments of the season dear friends. Trust you are enjoying your Christmas well. So the prompt for this week asked a question and a very important but funny one at that.
Just yesterday our prepared meter subscription finished and I think who was supposed to subscribe for the light did not and that was how we slept without light that night. The experience as usual is not always funny especially in a dry season like this were heat will deal with you, and in our own case mosquito was not even helping matters. Because when there is light at least the fan will not allow them ( mosquitoes ) operate peacefully . But since there was no light they feasted on us , and I believe one of my neighbor whose window was not covered with net received the mosquito bites in double portion. All these happened just because there was no electricity , just for a day ooo, now imagine what will happen if it takes up to a month or years. In the aspect of charging my gadgets especially phone, I was now a constant visitor to all the betting centers around , I even made new friends in the process. 🤣🤣
I can also recall when we use to stay in a particular compound and a story building at that. One day , I think the transformer in our area was faulty and the whole street was thrown into darkness. There was no light to pump water . That was how we started going to search to for where to be fetching water and the experience was not funny for the whole week. Now I imagine if such a situation happen to those leaving in an eastate where every house is being fence round and nobody freely gives water outside. You know what that means, then just imagine this thing happening for months or years.
About few weeks ago the price of cooking gas in our country increase and we were all complaining because it was difficult, this alone made some bachelors not to even try cooking again at home 🤣🤣 , they now had to be eating outside and from the popular street food vendor called mama put.
Now just imagine waking up one morning and all these are gone without any explanation of when they will come back. Truly the world will be thrown into a serious confusion. Although we would have tried to adjust, but the truth is, it wouldn't have been funny because we are all use to this pattern of lifestyle , enjoying the electricity , charging our phones and playing with it.
We would have now gone into the thick blushes to fetch firewood, again using lantern to lite up the house will be back. And people will now be seen going back to the stream to fetch water for survival. Indeed the year 1925 would have repeated itself in a glance and we would had a flash back of history a little.
