Would I Still Use Hive Without Rewards?

If I woke up tomorrow and discovered that Hive no longer had rewards no HBD, no Hive tokens, no upvote payouts I had to ask myself honestly: would I still log in?

At first, I joined because the rewards were attractive. The idea that my thoughts, stories, and effort could be valued financially felt exciting. It gave me motivation to write, to post consistently, and to engage with others. Every notification felt like proof that someone out there appreciated what I shared.

But over time, something changed.

Hive stopped feeling like just a platform and started feeling like a place. A place where I could express myself freely, connect with people from different parts of the world, and grow my confidence. The comments became conversations. The followers became familiar names. Posting became more than chasing rewards—it became part of my routine and identity.

So if the rewards disappeared, would I leave? Honestly… I don’t think so.

I would still write because writing helps me think clearly. I would still read because I learn from others every day. I would still comment because conversations matter to me. The rewards may have brought me in, but the community is what made me stay.

Of course, I can’t pretend incentives don’t help. Rewards encourage consistency and make the effort feel recognized. Without them, things might slow down. Fewer people might post daily. The excitement might feel quieter. But the heart of the platform—connection, creativity, and freedom—would still be there.

If rewards disappeared, Hive would become a place driven purely by passion. And maybe that would reveal who truly loves being here.

For me, Hive is no longer just about earning. It’s about sharing, learning, and belonging. And those are things worth showing up for—even without rewards.

Thanks for reading.
