Assembly Blunder

(edited)

Good day everyone, welcome to my blog.

This prompt reminds me of one of the numerous embarrassing movements I had when I was in high school. Yes I had numerous embarrassing movements during my senior high school years maybe because I was clumsy or because I came from a government owned school or because it was my first school in Lagos after relocating from Ibadan.

So it happened that we had this teacher back then who teaches us government. In an attempt to finish his tense on time he would say stuff like corin instead of continue, shot- up instead of shut–up and the likes.

On that particular day, it was another turn to conduct the assembly. As the teacher got to the podium, he asked a simple question that was expected to be answered by you and I, yours truly answered the question with you and me then the teacher asked who is your English language teacher?

Almost everybody in my class chorused at the same time saying our government teacher’s name. I felt so embarrassed that I contemplated going back home after the assembly that day but it was not possible.

I tried to talk my grandmother into not going to school the following day too but the old woman was not going to have it. The damage control I did was to go out to another class to spend my break instead of staying in the class where I would be called names like government teacher's daughter or government teacher's wife.

The teasing continued till we went on mid term break. After mid term break it stopped or maybe my classmates got tired. I felt the teasing but I learnt to process my words and tense before saying it out from that movement.

Here is my entry for this week's prompt, I am calling on @hopestylist @funshee @tigrace to come take part in this.
