RE: Life Trees

Well, this was just lovely @hadrianwild, and so relatable. I wonder if you couldn't ask a friend to visit your life tree in Finland and capture its magnificence on film (SD card lol) for posterity? I'm sure that would provide a joy for them to discover between the layers πŸ€— When I was little, we had a tree in our garden. A magnificent tree - at least in my eyes! It provided a huge canopy of shade. It had long thickset heavy branches that swept low enough to be less intimidating from a child's perspective, but high enough to instill some sense and sensibility around their climbing! When we moved house, I was devastated. I knew I was leaving behind a piece of my childhood that I would never be able to experience or replay again, except in my mind. That tree and its stocky upturned branches held many a dare and childhood secret between the rusting of its leaves. All perfectly innocent - it was a tree of memories... and nightmares - but the latter is a tale for another time. I'm not really sure what kind of tree that first life tree was, but from everything I can remember of it, and from the trees I have looked upon the local area, I suspect that it may have been a Natal Mahogany.

And now you are making me think of the other important life trees in my short history on this Earth.... hmm... I just may need to write a post about them hehe πŸ₯°πŸŒ³πŸŒ²πŸŒ΄πŸƒ πŸ’— #lifetree

Excellent! Thank you for that. I'm really looking forward to reading more about your life trees... That birch in Finland is actually still in the family so getting a photo would be easy. I'm just a bit worried it might not live up to my memory!

aha!!! That is always a possibility. It's funny how some things from our childhood made such an impression at an early age... but now that we are all grown, appear to be less impactful when we encounter them again... Over the years, they have lost their sense of presence - the shift in perspective and view as we age (literally - we are taller now, everything looks smaller than it once did in our world!) can make for bitter-sweet reunions. I hope you can capture just a little of the magic tucked away in the recesses of your mind and heart. I shall look at pulling something together - I think it's incredible how many memories are woven into the roots of the trees of our lives. Now just to carve out a little time... and that reminds me of another old tree hehe... or should I say dead tree stump! !ALIVE
