Storytelling Rooks love pizza too

Hello Hello feathered friends and all sunny people of the Hive

Today we are going back a month or so when I saw some funky birds being quite birdy and aggressive!

And no.... they were not seagulls even though they were in a seaside town!

I am sure you have heard of poetic licence well today I am going to take a little bit of feathered licence!

image.png

What is he fluffing on about I am sure I can hear you say.

We had a pizza to eat in this restaurant... Mozza in St Andrews

image.png

... and were pretty hungry so we were itching to get sat down and fed.

We crossed the road...

image.png

And fluff me the birds were manic, flying up and down and even having a go at each other!

The blackboard was advertising ÂĢ6.95 pizzas and they were popular. Well at least with the birds... Because inside I saw no sign of these cheap pizzas!

I was actually surprised to see with their beak colours that they were rooks...

image.png

This one seemed to be standing guard!

We have crows and ravens in Kirkcaldy but I can't remember seeing rooks!

Here though, they were making up for it!

You will not pass unless you pay the fee!

image.png

Once paid you then got escorted into the restaurant...but of course they kept their eye on you.!

image.png

Look at that face though. ... I tell you, they were eyeing up the pizzas.

So I don't know if they throw out crumbs or what, but there was a crowd of rooks gathered.

Actually what it is collective noun for rooks ..

Let me google ....

Ah yes of course, a parliament of rooks!

How could I forget that one... I remember a rookery of course and parliament now, but did you know A group of rooks is called not just a parliament but can also be called a building, clamour, congregation or storytelling...

Well I think a storytelling of rooks is very apt for this post seeing as I have taken some feathered licence!

This post though, is an entry for this week's Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 208 hosted by the wonderful @nelinoeva in the fantastic Feathered Friends community on Hive.

image.png

And I shall pick this one for the entry

image.png

I do have some more pictures of them but they are not the best quality so deleted. In my defense ... I was crossing the road and yes there was traffic coming at me!

Anyway I decided I wanted the lone rook staring at the humans feeding themselves to be the featured entry!

What do you think? Was that your favourite?

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!

It's pretty funny how greedy birds can get at times. My mom and dad have feeders out their back window that they watch they get some really mean fellas out there!

Some of them really do get grouchy with each other. Bird feeders are great, my parents had some too, and it was quite fascinating seeing the hierarchy of meanness!

Haha, yes, a great way to put it!

M, a group of rooms is called parliament? How funny.

Now I'm thinking I'd I should call my country's parliament memebers ....rooks 😂😂😂

Haha I think rooks are more useful than your parliament members though ðŸĪĢ

Yeah....I agree 😂😂😂😂

I have to admit that some animals can intimidate me and gluttonous birds are one of them. In Venezuela there is a species of birds very similar to rooks that can pull out your hair to make their nests and you have to be alert because they fly over your head looking to pull out your hair. Maybe I watched a lot of Hitchcock's Birds. Nice pictures. A hug with wings for you, Ed

Hehe you would not like an island I visited last year.
The artic terns would divebomb you and hit your head if you walked too close to their eggs

My guess is that the white-billed crow ate a lot of cheese. 😅ðŸĪŠ

I here at Hive really enjoy Anna's posts, a girl who feeds and photographs crows. Have you seen them?

Ah, everybody loves pizza. 😀
I must admit I've seen rooks only in the fields and never in town. But they do come always in groups and this is quite interesting how many different words can be used for the group of birds.
Thank you again for your lovely post!
