The Woodland Kingfishers!

Hello feathered friends. It's nice to see the free theme for the weekly contest back again, now I can participate. That's heartwarming. 😂

So I'd be sharing some photos some of the "Woodland Kingfisher birds (Halcyon senegalensis) I snapped a couple of weeks ago. The birds were perched on a lamp post by the wall side of a school sitting in my church environment.

The school, Mercy Girls' Secondary School, is a treasure trove of nature - a clean, more structured landscape with carpet grass, flowers, tree plants, and more. There, you'd find all varieties of birds like the Hawks, Cattle Egrets, Kingfishers, and more. The whistling pines and palm trees seem to invite them in, no doubt.

The Woodland Kingfisher is the most Tree kingfishers in my region. They're a beauty to behold. Bright blue back, wings and tail, white head, white underpants, red bill with black lower mandible.

Just like most birds, they love wooded areas, gardens, lamp posts, wires,

Since they're perched right up there on the lamp post, I had to zoom in on my phone to get a clear shot. Not so clear, I guess.

Although I didn’t get a perfect photo, but I got the moment. Sometimes that’s better than nothing.
