Memoir Monday #40 My favorite books as a child.

I was struggling to remember my favorite books as a child until we dropped into a charity shop the other day and I saw a bed tome book for a child. The night cap stirred something deep and it suddenly came back to me. My favorite book as a child would have been Noddy and Big Ears LOL

I seem to also remember it got labelled as totally politically incorrect. Maybe that's why I liked it. They used to drive around in some funny car in a playland full of blocks.

Reading, writing and English as a subject was never my strong point, if it was not for Hive and blogging. I would still struggle to find the time to read as much as I should. When I was young I only really remember reading to find out the sporting results. Maybe I did a few book reports at school but they would have been the easiest and smallest books I could find. For the life of me I can not remember that they were. I may have just copied or handed in someone else work. I was a bit of a smart arse in the early days. Luckily it was well before the internet or who know that I might have got up to.

In an attempt to get me more interested in reading my parents got me some Commando comics, I was very surprised to find there still going today all these years later. I suppose they helped a bit.

Helped more than the first Little Golden Books I remember having at home. Maybe they were more for my sister.

I do remember being slightly more interested in the Adventures of the Wishing chair I can not remember any detail but it may have been read to me as a bed time story.

I found an version of this book in the charity shop but I had a much older version.

The cat in the hat was pretty cool but I thought it was a bit weird.

Luckily nowadays with a bit of extra time I have started to read a bit more. I enjoy some of the historical fiction stuff by Edward Rutherford or some fast pace action from Matthew Reilly. I think there is one wrapped up for me under the Christmas tree.
