My longing to be an adult was so strong that I cannot believe I am the same person who occasionally laments about adulthood and all the responsibilities that come with it.
We would love to hear about the games you played and the toys you grew up with.
If I had the opportunity to be a child again, I would gladly become one and then return to being an adult after resting enough.
As a child, I played several games and each of them was fun and exciting. They all left me feeling super pumped, excited, and fulfilled.
I grew up in a family where we rarely went out to play with neighbours and friends but whenever we did, we played to our heart's content, no holding back, no limits just pure excitement and fun.
Since we didn't go out often, my siblings and cousins were my playmates and we played any and everything that seemed fun in our books.
My favourite game back then was the cooking game. My siblings, cousins and I did not just dive into this game like every other game we played, nah, we prepared. We got all the ingredients ready for our cooking session and we waited. We waited for the day where nobody was going to be home and we swung into full action.
We had a list where different ingredients were assigned to various individuals, ohh dear Lord you needed to witness our cooking games😂
When it was time to cook we tried our best to imitate our mothers. From the little we saw them do, we did and improvised when we were stuck.
We would carefully make a little fire with firewood we had picked and tomato paste cans served as our pot and trust me they did the job.
We picked vegetables from random grasses around and the good thing was that none were poisonous.
Putting everything in the pot, we stared as professionals, each taking turns to taste if all the ingredients were enough, oh Lord, what were we even tasting for!!😂
Watching us make this concoction we called food was a delight, you would think we would turn out to be professional chefs one day but today most of us cook for survival and not for the passion that we once had.
Another beautiful game I enjoyed playing back then was acting like our parents. We had several toys so we acted like mummies and daddies. We took care of these toys, gave them names, fed them, washed their clothes, and took them to school. Oh yes!! We wanted to grow so fast that we enjoyed enacting these roles whenever we had the opportunity to.
We also played some silly games like staying like a statue, board games, racing games, and so many others. Each of these games made my childhood memorable.
