Hello, Silver Bloggers!

It's been a while since we last did a compilation post and we thought the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the community and all the amazing posts some of you published is the right time to share some of your gems. We thank all of you who posted about the 3rd anniversary of the community and/or how you came to Silver Bloggers. Here are some of the most outstanding posts that some of our members wrote.

Sharing plans of retirement with others happened with ease. Hobbies, health, family, dreams and bucket lists became fun topics to share with other silver-haired folks. The community had an abundance to talk about, recipes, vacations, weddings, and memories of when we were young. #silverbloggers gave me confidence and comfort, all laced with good humor and a genuine sense of caring.

How and Why Silver Bloggers?

It felt like I belonged here not just because I was born before the internet era (yep, I'm in my early silvery years) and already retired from 9-5; but also because I get to be myself, uninhibited and comfortable pouring my heart out, sharing even the most mundane stuff of my day and not worrying about being muted (or judged). And of course, because SB is home to two of the warmest souls I've ever met online (Silver Scot whom I fondly call Tito Ed, and Silver Cat, my amiga Super Eli).💖

Several things keep me coming back to this community when I feel like I have something to share, the most important being the people I've met along the way. There are other communities that I also enjoy very much, but this community is very much open-ended as far as what can be posted under the #silverbloggers tag. Almost any subject is good to go just as long as you're not talking about DENTURES.

It is pleasant to be here, we feel the warmth of friendship; together we have felt the joy of many and suffered the anguish of others. We have seen loved ones depart and have felt the terrifying fear that this means. Some go away and come back and it is as if they had never left, others post every day and amuse me with their witticisms.

Wow a long walk down blogging together, we have yet to meet in person, true Durbanites or is it just me? Real life takes us on journeys between loadshedding, lockdowns, losing loved ones we have maintained contact through it all, thanks Lizelle it's always good to know one has others to confide/rely on, something I have found with all members who join is they tend to understand!

My meeting with Silver Bloggers

One of the things I like about the community is the variety of its members. For me it is satisfying to read what friends from other parts of the world write, I love having the opportunity to learn about their cultures. Here I can have contact with people from Asia, North America, South Africa, United Kingdom and other parts of the world, that contact is wonderful for me.
