In case you missed it, I recently took a trip down to Louisville, KY. Pretty much every post I have been making lately has been dedicated to sharing that trip with you. It felt only right that I should carry that theme along into my #threetunetuesday posts sponsored by @ablaze.
Basically, you pick three tunes and you share them with your followers. They don't have to be connected, but I usually like to have some kind of theme. I feel it makes it easier for me to actually talk about the songs versus just spamming some YouTube links.
One of the big draws to Louisville and the middle part of Kentucky (besides horses and Mammouth Cave), is bourbon. In my post yesterday I took some time talking about the Bourbon Trail.
Likewise, in one of my posts last week I gave you more information about Whiskey Row. People come from all over the place to visit the 50 plus distilleries that are located in the state of Kentucky. With the rolling hills and signs that Spring is on the way, it was the perfect getaway from the grip Winter still has on Michigan.
Like I said, the theme for this week is Bourbon, so let's get to it!
This is a fairly new country song by rising artist Michael Ray. They started playing it on Sirius/XM The Highway before it was on regular radio. It is a really good song. I like the mood of it and it has a bit of a swing to the tune that gets you moving to the music.
While not necessarily a happy song, like I said, it has a mood to it that I think goes perfectly with whiskey and more specifically bourbon. In fact, it's probably no surprise that I would pick a country song to start this week because what goes better with bourbon than some good old country music!
I'm pulling this one deep out of the vault. Many of you might be familiar with George Thorogood from the song "Bad to the Bone", but the fact is, he had a pretty decent catalog of other songs as well. In addition to that, you will see from the video that he was quite the entertainer as well.
I've never had the chance to see George although I think he was just recently in my area.
Anyway. I felt like I had to include this song. It is just a classic. Plus it has bourbon right in the title, so it fits perfectly. If you get tired of the intro in the video, you can skip to about the 5 minute mark and he really gets to the song.
I make no effort to hide the fact that I am a lover of all kinds of music. I am just as comfortable listening to Rap as I am listening to Classical, Pop, Rock, Metal, Grunge, or even Show Tunes. One of my absolute favorite genres of music though is Jazz.
I felt it only right that I include the great Wynton Marsalis in this list playing "Bourbon Street Parade". I'll be honest with you. I don't know if I have ever heard this song before by name. It's possible I have heard it but never would have been able to pick it out.
Thank goodness for Google and the power of searching "Jazz songs about Bourbon" to find and share this one with you.
Finally, I had to give you a bonus song. Neil Diamond is one of my all time favorite song writers and artists, so I had to share this with you. While not specifically about bourbon, I do enjoy to drink my bourbon on the rocks, so this felt like it fit.
I also feel like this is the perfect song to spin on vinyl, sit in a lounger, and sip some bourbon to. It just has that mood to it. It's actually one of my favorite songs by Neil. It actually bugs me a little bit that amazing songs like "Sweet Caroline" have been reduced to novelties at sporting events, but Neil seems to handle it well, so I guess I should to!
That's all I have for you this week. Thanks for coming along on this Three Tune Tuesday!

Songs to drink by!
I like the Whiskey and Rain, that sound is a perfect example of background music for my day. Michael Ray is mighty fine.
On the other hand, I am not a fan of George Thorogood, although I cannot explain it. I am usually appreciative of most music, but, while I don't dislike it, it does nothing for me. :(
I love jazz!! Enough said!
Neil Diamond, Love on the Rocks. Probably my favorite, but so are many of his. He is a brilliant singer, songwriter, and human being. He has been around for over 50 years, unbelievable! I will admit. I adore him. and his music. I was not exactly excited about the hijacking of the Sweet Caroline song, but, I have to think it was done as a compliment to him.
Thanks for the tunes!
Yeah, I think the fact that he has come to Fenway and sung along with it shows that he doesn't mind too much. I got to see him in concert a while ago and it was an amazing show! I can understand the issue with Thorogood. He definitely had a niche that he lived in and it's probably not for everyone.

Big jazz fan myself, I think Louis Armstrong does that song as well.
Whiskey Row is on my list...one day....

It's a pretty amazing place. I hope you get there!
I like that first one by Michael Rae and Country definitely would not be a go to genre for me usually, but that was a very well delivered song and you are right about the theme, it's a great way to pull the post together and make it coherent and worth reading and listening to.
I can't say I know George Thorogood that well, but he seems pretty cool, some talker with that intro and then straight into a banger of a tune..
That makes us quite alike, as I am a big time genre surfer too, it's a great way to be as you have so much great music to choose from then. Wynton Marsalis's tune was the stand out song for me hear, quality listening...
Awesome! Thanks for stopping by! Have you heard the song Bad to the Bone? That's George Thorogood and probably his most famous song.
Quite liked the Michael Ray song - never heard of him before - pretty catchy !
Cheers
Yeah, it is a good song!
Oh man, I haven't heard that Thorogood song for a long time. I'm sure you didn't get Q95 up in MI. It's the station out of Indy that Bob & Tom went to after they left MI. Anyway, the afternoon DJ, Maddog, loved this song and used to try to get it in at least once every few days. Listening to this takes me back.
That is too funny! I haven't heard of that station, but I definitely know Bob and Tom. My sister lives in Indy right now. Getting ready to move home though. I think I told you that already though. I knew I had to include it when I settled on the theme for this week. I figured you would appreciate the Jazz too.
That kind of goes without saying 😃 Any jazz from the great Wynton Marsalis is on the top of my list. Great stuff!
Yeah, George Thorogood is classic! I've known this song for a long time, it used to be the opening song for the after party at parties. 🍻 😎 !BEER
That is too cool. I've never heard it except on the radio.
One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer and make it a triple please! Great tunes!
