When a Hive Account stakes Hive, it also generates Resource Credits (which are actually the things you need to spend to transact on Hive). The more RC you have the more actions you can do on Hive (vote, post, etc). One of the actions you can also do on Hive, is to "collect" an account token. This token allows you to create a free Hive account.
Although to collect a token, you need a LOT of RC... which then regenerates over time. Hence, if people stake a lot of Hive, they will be able to claim these tokens over time, and that's how I have so many.
Now, to the other part of your question... how can you save? I need more input, not sure if I understand what you mean by it.
