I was down in Berwick-upon-Tweed last year and caught a train from there coming back up to Edinburgh.
Whilst waiting for the train I got out a phone and went snappety snap snap or was it clickety click click!
The train is one of the faster ones and has that Japanese bullet type engine. It made for a good picture, but the highlight is not the train!
No indeed not... it is .. can you guess what the highlight is...??
This is an example of leading lines however the quest this week is for Power Lines.
So what about these fluffing power lines...?
The power lines in the photograph are a type of overhead line system called catenary, which is used to provide electricity to electric trains. It's a fascinating and vital piece of railway infrastructure and you know you are near train tracks when you see them.
The overhead power lines form a complex network of diagonals and horizontals that criss-cross the frame and satisfy the quest in my mind anyway.
They are prominent without completely dominating the photo and add a layer of industrial complexity and visual interest.
And as for shapes, we have the vertical poles supporting them and the sweeping curves of the catenary wires.
If you want to see why I am showing you a Train's Power Lines picture then I implore you to go read ... Qurator's Photo Quest | Power Lines

That is almost 14000 a year, I will take that!
Thanks buzzy and have a great week :)
I wish we had more high speed trains here in the US. The ones we have are so slow and they have to stop so frequently that it isn't really worth traveling on them. I did it once and it was kind of miserable.
We really are spoilt here in the built up areas in the UK, countryside is totally different of course.
My dad loved trains and I remember when he came to Florida he got such a thrill hearing the horn on a train which we then got stuck at crossing at it went on and on and on! That was a freight train, I know my inlaws would drive from Florida to Colorado and Texas and other places and never took the train, so as many states that I have been to in the States I never did take a train!
We have a cargo train that runs the tracks right at the end of our neighborhood. Every now and then you hear the horn blowing when they get to the crossing around the corner. It makes the whole house shake. We don't really mind it though.

That's nice I never knew those power lines provide electricity to power the trains. Thanks for sharing.
You ever been on a train?
No 😢😞

Nice to see your post
Beautiful picture
You killed so many birds with one stone in this picture.
At some point I thought you went shadow hunting but your story makes everything clear and thanks for bringing us into the moment by writing
Appreciate that thank you, a good picture can tell many stories!
You’re welcome
I wish we had better public transit, like the train systems you have there in Europe. We literally suck at it here in the U.S. I would travel a good deal more if we had a better rail system. We have AMTRAK but it is not very widespread and is not very affordable for long distance travel honestly. At least from what I've looked into.
The trains are awesome here and in Europe too. I do want to do some trips over there on train as I am sure there will be some amazing views. But money talks, I know the distances you guys drive. I remember when we were living in Florida, my inlaws wanted to show me Colorado where they originally lived, so we drove for fluffing days lol!
Yeah it’s crazy long distance drives. It would be perfect for bullet trains.
Ohhh
The power lines do bring a sort of industrial touch to the farm background!!
Lovely pic mate
Hehe thanks pal :)
There are no trains in my city. In fact, there are no trains in my country. There have been several projects, but they've remained just that: projects. What does exist is the metro, created in the last century. I think I'd like to travel by train. Photography hugs, Ed📸😎
Wow no trains at all? Does the metro get expanded if cities expand? Travelling by train is often my favourite way to travel, such a relaxing way to enjoy the scenery of where you are going! A scenic hig Nancy ;)
I haven't look closer to the train track here. Hehehe.😛
Now you have an excuse to 😎
Nice picture! Those trains these days all run on electric which is pretty cool. Most trains in the US still use diesel due to the vast distances they have to travel. It would cost way to much to build a nationwide electrical system for the trains. Interesting that the trains had a bullet motor from Japan, pretty cool!
I am not sure if they electrified both sides of the UK, I know the east side is done which is my side. oh yes would be a huge undertaking going coast to coast over there. Mind you, there are some train journeys I would love to take there. Such a great way to have a scenic relaxing trip.
Hi,
Nice Entry...
Good luck in the contest!
Wonderful! Your train is all on land, and it's obviously very fast. The train in my city covers a short distance. They look a bit like power lines.
