Rising Star Game: Word to the wise, keep that ego low!

I started Rising Star after one of my favorite streamers for Splinterlands, @solymi, talked about this game and switched over to it on one of his live streams. I thought it was a really really cool concept for an NFT-based music game and immediately started playing in between my writing projects and SPL matches. I was doing the Illegal Busking mission every 5 minutes like clockwork, even setting alarms for myself as I worked just so I could stay on top of it and earn those sweet sweet Starbits. Eventually, I had worked my way up to doing the Saturday Headliner mission on repeat whenever I could, slowly building up Starbits so that I could purchase some better cards on the market. Once the "ego" value came into play I admittedly ignored it for a while, until my returns from doing missions were becoming noticably less and less.

My remedy for the ego problem took almost a week to complete. Every hour during the day, when I had the energy, I would do a guitar lesson mission to earn "skill" which would lower my ego gained from doing so many of those damn Saturday Headliner missions. Now I am finally at 1% ego and can get on with my life again!

Lessons learned:

  1. Don't ignore the ego stat! It will bite you in the ass if you do, and it will take quite a bit of time to work it back down to a managable level. Picking up more instrument cards of a certain category will also speed up the process and lead to more maximum skill earnings per lesson. I focused on guitars because, well, guitars kick ass.
  2. Invest in the Pizza Boxes and the Cold Pizza Slice early! I didn't know that you could have multiple of each to dip into throughout the day to top off my energy and keep rockin' out. It has absolutely increased my earning potential vs. buying cards that only increase my fans and/or skill. A balance is needed to be efficient.
  3. Participate in the weekly Rising Star giveaways with Radio Evolved on Twitch
, @Jux and the other great people on the Rising Star and Atom Collector team showcase some really kickass music from the artists featured in the game and there are some amazing card giveaways. I have personally won a few of those wonderful cards from the spinning wheel of prizes...it's hard to forget a name like Dyson-the-Booper.

If you haven't checked out Rising Star, please do so, it is a nice departure from the usual battle-based games out there. I like to just have it playing in the background while working just for the music!

Here's a link to the game with my referral if you haven't tried it out yet!

I really like the platform because it showcases upcoming artists that collaborate with Rising Star. They are good people. You should contact them if you have some of your music that you would like to share with them to get more exposure.
