Although the photo above is of my niece, it is a pretty good representation of how I feel this morning. The Detroit Tigers could have clinched their playoff series last night, but they fell just short losing to Cleveland 5 to 4. Now the series moves back to Ohio for a must win game five on Saturday.
Too bad I am going to be too busy watching the streams of my nieces softball games or college football to probably watch the playoff game. It will just depend. I have been a long time Tigers fan ever since I was a little kid. My passion for the game of baseball fades in and out, but in my heart, I am always a Tigers fan. I still remember going to my first game as a young boy at the old Tigers Stadium with my dad, my uncle, and my cousin.
The action starts tomorrow with my niece having a 10:10 game down in Ohio against one of the Turnin2 organization teams. Then at 11:50 she has a game against a team from Pittsburgh. Finally, at 3:10 tomorrow the Lasers take on a Unity team. Then on Sunday bracket play starts and those games are to be determined, but it looks like the Lasers could have an early start at 8:30 AM.
Good thing they don't have to travel too far!
Since the Tigers play at 8:08 PM on Saturday night, I might be able to have my set up where I watch them and tend to the campfire.
Let's also not forget there is college football tomorrow, but unfortunately, Michigan State is on their bye week.
Although Arizona State is 4-1. I don't think they have much chance against the #16 Utah team. Odds are pretty solid for Utah too.
#10 Clemson shouldn't have much trouble either against Wake Forest. Likewise #7 Alabama will be looking for some redemption after their loss to Vandy last week against South Carolina.
#21 Missouri should walk over UMass, and #22 Pitt will probably have little trouble at home against California.
There are two games on Saturday that I am really looking forward to. Okay, maybe three games.
The first is #1 Texas versus #18 Oklahoma. I expect Texas will probably remain undefeated, but it is at home for Oklahoma, so that could give them a slight advantage.
#23 Illinois is likely going to have little trouble with Purdue, and I expect #4 Penn State should keep USC at bay.
Stanford will probably rack up another loss against #11 Notre Dame, and Arizona probably won't stand a chance against #14 BYU. I guess strength of schedule really does matter as BYU is one of the few 5-0 teams in the top 25, but still only ranked #14.
#5 Georgia should be able to handle Mississippi State no problem, and #8 Tennessee might have a fight with Florida, but I expect they will win.
The second big game I am excited about tomorrow is the #2 Ohio State versus #3 Oregon game. It's kind of rare we get a top 5 showdown in the middle of the season. Least of all one that isn't in the SEC conference. I think this should be a really good game, but ultimately, OSU will probably win even though Oregon has the home field advantage.
#9 Ole Miss vs. #13 LSU is the third game that could be really exciting. Both teams only have one loss and I would guess both of them are hoping for a chance to maybe be in the playoffs. This might be a good one to take the long shot on if you are the betting sort.
Finally, #11 Iowa State should beat West Virginia, #18 Kansas State will likely take down Colorado, but it might be a fight, and #17 Boise State should handle Hawai'i with no problem.
