On The Road Again

This weekend my wife and I will be heading back down to Flint Michigan to brave the chaos that is youth basketball at "The Cage". It's actually a really nice facility, it's just packed with so many people and there is so much going on that it can be a bit overwhelming at times.

It's basically just a large metal structure with four basketball courts inside of it and a row of bleachers facing each way down the center. The fact that this facility belongs to a school district is actually quite impressive. I'm sure they collect some pretty nice fees for letting outside groups use the building.

Thankfully, it looks like the weather isn't going to be too bad for us on Sunday when we make the drive down I-75 to our destination. There have been other weekends we haven't been so lucky and I often think to myself "I hope our nephews know how much we love them to be risking our lives like this!".

Before we get to Sunday, we have to get through tonight. While there are no NCAA games in the top 25 tonight. We will hopefully be watching our niece play via streaming from down in Ohio. The past couple of games the cameras haven't worked so we have had to stay updated via text message from our brother in law.

I really hope that isn't the case tonight. I am going to have to do some research on that.

As far as I know there is only one major football game tomorrow in the college top 25. That would be the annual Army vs. Navy game. While Army is clearly the better team on paper, Navy fans seem to think they have the advantage this year. My dad was in the Navy, so I have to lean that way, but I honestly think Army is going to win.

Meanwhile, with college football being done for a bit, that leaves room for 16 NCAA top 25 basketball games tomorrow.

If I had to pick a couple of your to key in on, that would actually be a tough call. As I got through the list, there are a lot of potentially good games on tomorrow. Basically all you have to do is throw a dart and you will probably find one.

  • Memphis vs. (16) Clemson game
  • (17) Texas A&M vs. (11) Purdue
  • (2) Auburn vs. Ohio State
  • Xavier vs. (22) Cincinnati
  • (20) Wisconsin vs. Butler
  • North Carolina State vs. (10) Kansas
  • (9) Florida vs. Arizona State
  • (1) Tennessee vs. Illinois
  • (6) Marquette vs. Dayton
  • (8) Gonzaga vs. (18) UConn
  • (13) Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State
  • Creighton vs. (7) Alabama.

See what I mean. I'm serious, I wouldn't feel bad about putting money on the underdog in any of those contests. In fact, I can't even seem to find odds yet when I look at my regular site for any of those games.

On Sunday there are just two games in the top 25. I don't think either of those are going to be too big of a deal, which is fine because you will probably be watching the NFL on Sunday anyway. Most specifically the late afternoon match up between Buffalo and Detroit. That should be a banger of a game!

I miss the excitement that used to come along with going to watch my siblings play in youth sports. Sometimes those games can be even more exciting than the ones that have people much better involved in them.

Yeah, that is a good point. It's actually nice that they are all involved in their own sports. I think otherwise they would get annoyed at being dragged around to all of their siblings activities!
