It's going to be a short week for many teams in the NFL as they played this weekend and then they have to play on Christmas day. Thankfully, the Lions aren't in that position and they get a little more time to heal. I think we got a bit lucky this past weekend that we had to play Chicago who has been on a bit of a slide lately. If we had another game against a team like Buffalo last week, it might have been a much different outcome this week.
I had some stuff to take care of on Sunday morning, but I was happy to be home from church in time to watch the Lions face Chicago. My niece actually got to attend the game, but given sitting in a cold Chicago stadium or watching it at home under a blanket on my couch, I think I prefer the couch!
Things started off on Thursday this past week with The Chargers beating Denver 34 to 27. Then Kansas City took down Houston 27 to 19. Baltimore beat Pittsburgh 34 to 17, and Carolina actually snagged an overtime win against Arizona 36 to 30.
Washington had their own late game heroics to push them past Philadelphia 36 to 33, and The Rams beat The Jets 19 to 9.
Tennessee fell to Indianapolis 38 to 30, and Cincinnati beat Cleveland 24 to 6.
The Lions had a big win over Chicago 34 to 17 which is kind of funny since that was the same score of the Steelers/Ravens game. Despite the lopsided score, the Detroit defense is showing signs of all the injuries and they allowed a lot more yards that they really should have. It was kind of mind numbing to watch at times. As we saw last weekend, when you play a really good team, those mistakes are going to come back to bite you.
I'll take the win though. Next weekend we have San Francisco and that will likely be a tougher match up.
Atlanta beat The Giants 34 to 7, Minnesota snagged another win beating Seattle 27 to 24, and Miami beat San Francisco 29 to 17.
Las Vegas had victory against Jacksonville 19 to 14, and Buffalo had a close scrape beating New England 24 to 21.
Finally, Dallas beat Tampa Bay 26 to 24, and New Orleans fell to Green Bay with a pathetic 34 to 0 loss.
I wouldn't be surprised if the cold weather played a factor there!

Soldier Field's position right next to the lake ensures that the wind is going to whip through the upper levels of that stadium like the Arctic. I'm surprised that Chicago hasn't built a new stadium for the Bears yet. That stadium is in rough shape the last I saw it but I guess tradition is kind of nice every now and then.
Some of those old stadiums definitely have their own charm. I have never been to Soldier Field. It looks like the Lions handled it quite well. I have been waiting to see photos from the game, but she isn't like typical kids, her social media footprint is pretty sparse unless she has a finsta or something like that. Actually, I think she does most of her stuff through snapchat which I refuse to install.
