Good morning all, I am doing a 5 minutes freewriting for prompt - Such a Stereotype, thanks for reading and support.
Standing on the top step of the podium during the victory ceremony. Helena was overwhelmed with tears as she watch her country flag rises to her country's national anthem.
Born with Cerebral Palsy, Helena has always have issues with balancing herself as she was not as flexible as the general population. She grew up very protected from the outside world by her parents as they too did not understand much about her condition, so their best solution was to shield her in an controlled environment and keep her as sedentary as possible.
But Hugo, Helena's swimming coach by chance sees her potential in the water and Helena was obviously much happier in water than she was when on land.
Hugo spent a lot of effort convincing Helena's parent to let her swim under his supervision and his undertaking for her safety in the water. After 10 years of hard work, Helena now stand on the top step of the podium with a gold medal round her neck, she's not the only one crying.
Hugo was in tears too, as he recalled his firm belief when he was talking to her parents, begging them to not to having such a stereotype that people with some form of disability needs to be isolated and protected, they too can find their areas to excel in their very own way!
