Walking is a skill we use on our daily lives for everything from going to work, school to even the kitchen for a glass of water. But sometimes, we overlook how important walking is for our overall health as it can bring major improvements in our body and mind.

Our legs was an important element of survival for our ancestors since we had to hunt, gather, work, garden, travel everywhere mostly by foot, so people back then were pretty active contrary to today where this ancient but simple practice has been forgotten in modern times due to technology and life conveniences. Nevertheless, it's still a great tool for achieving a basic level of fitness, weightloss and preventing multiple diseases for anyone of all ages.

Science has proven in multiple studies how walking is an effective, low cost and easy for all exercise, so here are some of the benefits of putting those legs to work!
  • It burns calories, which can help you with weight loss goals if combined with a proper diet!
  • Strengthens the heart since its an aerobic exercise
  • Lowers blood sugar, specially if walking after a meal
  • Boosts immune function since it increases white blood cell count which are essential for fighting infections!
  • Boosts energy, it's Newton's law ! what is moving keeps moving.
  • Improves mood as it releases several hormones such as endorphins, dopamins and serotonin, all related to being mood lifters and happiness chemicals as well as it reduces cortisol, the stress hormone.
  • Lengthens life span up to 11 years! Even adding 5000 steps a day can already prevent multiple illnesses that can make you live longer!
  • Increases muscles in the legs and waist with long term practice which protects your joints and bones
  • and many more!

As you have seen there are multiple benefits to how walking improves your daily life, i myself have lost 44 pounds only by walking everyday in a calorie deficit and it has brought me many wonders in life not only in body but in mind.

Walking is also a great activity where you can bring friends and family along to build community and exercise together at the same time!
