I'm glad you found a front-end you are happy with. I'm currently using Hive.blog to browse posts, reply to comments etc. Basically it is my go-to place for almost everything I do on Hive.
I often times see people use Ecency. I also might have made my first Hive experiences with Ecency, if account creation would have worked there for me - which it sadly didn't.
I feel like the front-end that is by far the most used is PeakD. And in terms of features it is simply impossible to beat! I now went over to PeakD to set up a template for the story I'm currently writing. Templating there works a lot better than on Hive.blog.
Also the features to manage your account are simply impossible to beat when you look at PeakD.
But for some reason it doesn't feel quite comfortable browsing posts there yet.
One feature that really excites me is the ability to swap tokens within the app. This is something I didn’t expect when I first started, but now it makes things easier. Instead of trying to figure out complicated steps outside the platform, I can do it right there. For someone like me who is still new, that kind of simplicity is a lifesaver.
This is also a feature of the Hive Keychain extension or Android application. I never swapped any tokens there.
I refrain from swapping anything anymore though. In Germany law-enforcement is very strict about taxes. Yes, my 1-2€ per week that I currently don't even bother the otherwise strict government. But in case one day it turns into slightly more, I want to be ready with a good documentation of my income.
If I manually claim my Hive rewards once a week or once a month and then clearly document them, it will be absolutely no problem. But swapping Hive/HBD is tedious. Other taxation rules apply, calculating the profit/loss of such transactions makes my table to document things a lot more complicated. So for now I will no longer use this swapping feature between Hive/HBD unless it is an amount big enough that I don't mind taking the time to correctly document it in my spreadsheet.
Do you have similar worries about taxation in Nigeria or is everything a lot less bureaucratic?
Hi there, those are great observations you have. I use the "trade token" on Ecency to swap (immediately without fees) from HBD to Hive. It is very easy. Also, you do not necessarily need to have created your account on Ecency to be able to use it. I started out with PeakD, however, given the internet limitations and all, I need an app I can go to. Just one click and I'm in. Ecency solved that problem. Regarding the interface, Ecency feels a lot like social media to me. Yes, PeakD has a great one, no denying that.
We do have some regulations put in place, but like everyone else, we find ways to bypass them. In Nigeria, I can swap from HBD to hive on Ecency (zero charge) and then send my Hive to Binance/Bitget and use the P2P feature for conversion to fiat. Of course, this is where the fees come in. Is that what you mean as well? P2P does not charge that much from what I learned though. And yes, we also wait until it is a big amount but for someone like me who always needs pocket change (lmao), I also send the change. P2P! That can also be done here on Hive with people looking to buy HBD or HIVE and pay directly to your account in fiat. There are a lot of Nigerians on the look out. I don't know if you have people like that from Germany on Hive.
