WOW! This is my first time reading a Superman comic in full, and man was this one the best introduction to the mythos yet! For those unaware, this is an adaptation of an episode of the radio serial of Superman from the 1940s, where (after the show ran out of Nazi villains to fight for a long while), the creators of the show in partnership with (allegedly) a journalist doing a column on the KKK satirized and made fun of them by having Superman defeat them when they harass a Chinese-American family moving into Metropolis.
This one has it all! An astounding Superman story of him coming to terms with his own struggles of living between his alien heritage and his background as a Kansas farm boy, while also fighting back bigots who wish to harm the same family from the serial. And that family is EXTREMELY well-developed, with two main kid inserts for both the audience and the demographic that Superman needs to defend being fleshed out, likable, and well rounded characters with some absolutely grounded stakes and positive representation of both their culture and how they acclimated to American society and the struggles that came with it. This book is a must read, not only for people who like graphic novels and comics, but also those who love stories with amazing representation of cultures they haven't read up on or people and history they would like to learn more about.
