RE: Blue skies smiling at me

Interesting how you have contract negotiations that you do for yourself, we have a Local 17 Union that does contract negotiations on our behalf, but they usually get increasingly less healthcare coverage and in terms of wages it is usually 1.5-2% COLA raise :)

My wife and I are both non-affiliated employees, so we don't have to deal with all the union stuff. Which is sometimes good, but sometimes bad. In the past we would ask for say a 7% raise and they would say, we are only giving the union a 3% raise, so that is what you are getting. Nevermind the fact people in the union were already making 10% more than us anyway. They have been better about it lately. I don't think I would want to be in the union anyway. For example, we have an administrators union that I could technically be part of, and in the past the person who had my wife's job before her was in the union. However, there was a time where they needed to say to the public they cut an administrator, so that guy got booted and my wife got his job. It's a dangerous position to be in if you don't have numbers to protect you. I probably didn't explain it really well, but I didn't want this to become a book.

There is also the downside of paying Union Dues... Mine is $70+ every two weeks...
