Barbie Fever Dream

Barbie, a fashion doll manufactured by American toy and entertainment company Mattel, has starred or featured in 52 animated feature films and streaming television films since 2001, which has become a core component of an eponymous media franchise. - Again, Barbie, the woman of my dreams, the one who has been everything in the world and it is always there to hype up our hopes and dreams. She is what we girls wanted to be. Barbie is far more than unrealistic beauty standards, she has had almost every job that is or was still male dominated while wearing pink shoes. She is an inspiration and a perfect example of how you can do whatever you want no matter who you are and how you look like. She was never obfuscated by others in her movies, living either a big adventure won with cleverness, bravery, strength or friends, or a big dramatic love reminiscent from tales far older than television itself. I dare all her best movies are the ones from the 2000s and beyond, since despite the lack of animation technology they did present every story in a magical way with utmost success. And here i am to present you with this dream land, or at least an introduction.

So about we start with Barbie in the Nutcracker? Loosely adapted from E. T. A. Hoffmann's 1816 short story, "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King", and featuring music based from Tchaikovsky's 1892 ballet, The Nutcracker, it marked the character's first film since the 1987 television specials; Barbie and the Rockers: Out of This World and Barbie and the Sensations: Rockin' Back to Earth, with Kelly Sheridan providing the voice of Barbie. It was also the first Barbie movie to be computer-animated. It was released in 2001. So how to explain... This movie has lots of plot twists. It's a Christmas kind of fever dream. There is this girl called Clara who's trying to help this little girl train dance for a presentation, but then it's christmas eve and her exotic aunt comes to scene with gifts for them, one of them which a little boy breaks while fighting the little girl and Clara tries to fix the toy, the toy was the nutcracker. Once Clara goes to take a nap, she wakes up to a huge fight between the toy and some rats and a rat king. Then she gets small and caught up in this weird adventure. Now i know this seems weird as fuck but i promise this is good, fun, cute and romantic okay? It's a classic.

Moving on lets dive into another classic which i find the most beautiful artwork of all with a soundtrack that makes you want to dive into another world. Similar to the next one i will comment. This one is Barbie as Rapunzel released in 2002. We all know how Rapunzel goes but in this case Barbie as a captive princess was left with a magical paint brush when she was kidnapped by Gothel. With that and a song deep inside her head constant as the stars above always know that you are loved , and that sparks the magic in her brush making everything she paints come true. Opening a passage to escape Gothel. - Also there are dragons in this movie, that alone should convince you.

The next one i will mention and my last since i can continue this later on is Barbie in the 12 dancing princesses, this could even be said to be an isekai type of story but with 12 princesses where the main one we will see and follow is Genevieve. All of them find a secret passage that opens while dancing on top of gemstones that leads into a world full of magic that can make everything come true.

But while having fun there, their father widowed father gets in danger of losing his kingdom and his life, so they must join forces to go back and save him. The soundtrack here is so refreshing it give goosebumps, traces back to world you remember living but never been. Its a beautiful movie and some interesting facts are that each of the 12 Princesses is designated with a gemstone and a flower. Each princess' flower appears on their dresses, the book gifted to each of them, and on the stones on the floor of their bedroom, and each of the princesses' names begin with the first 12 letters of the alphabet. Also, there's a theory that this is a direct continuation of the other barbie movie Barbie as the Island Princess, due to one of the princesses, Luciana, in there looks exactly like the 12 princesses mother, the previous queen in the paintings, even her outfit is the same and the man she marries is very similar to the girls father. At the end of the movie it is also said they went to live in a far away country, which explains the change in scenery. Interesting isn't it? Much like Elza being Tarzan's sister somehow haha.

Anyway, that was it guys. Have a nice time watching and good dreams tonight.
