RE: Back to Home after ten days of ordeal

People belong at home. If there is something the hospital can do for him, then let them do it. The hospital cannot cure aging.

This brings back so many memories. Years ago, 1986, my mother was admitted in acute distress. I was told her life could be saved if I allowed them to ventilate her. I didn't know what that meant. She was put on a respirator.

Once the doctor had her on that respirator, she was trapped. The fight I had to get her off. Then, once she was off, the fight I had to get her out of the hospital. We all knew she was facing the last battle of her life. She knew it. But she wanted to go home. She wanted to be with her family, in her bed, at home, for those last days.

After threatening lawsuits and bringing in outside medical staff, we got her home. The last days were much longer than the hospital predicted. She lived another four months, with her family, eating (sparsely) the delicacies she enjoyed. Her final moments were with me and my sister. She passed so quietly and calmly that we didn't know she was gone.

She was happy, accepting, and peaceful.

Kudos to you for bringing your father home. That's where he belongs.
