Clevatess: The King of Magical Beasts, the Baby, and the Corpse Hero

Hello everyone, welcome to my blog it has been awhile since I posted here and I am not gonna lie, I miss it Feels Good being back. This time I'll be discussing about a recent gem I just stumbled on a few weeks ago and felt a burning urge to talk about it. I don't even know why this particular work is barely in the lips of anime lovers even though it is an interesting watch and by that I am talking about none other than the anime known as Clevatess: Majū no Ō to Akago to Shikabane no Yūsha.

Currently having just 5 episodes and set in a world of swords and magic, the anime tells the tale of Clevatess a Dark Beast Lord fed up with humanoids constantly invading his lands and decides to do something about. King Voisard the monarch of Haiden dispatches 13 heroes into the land of the dark beasts with legendary blades known as Regalias in an attempt to completely subjugate this territory.

Unfortunately for the young heroes, they are ambushed by a superior power in the form of Clevatess who totally annihilates all of them, heads directly to Jaiden, destroys everything except for a little baby named Luna after the mother begs the Dark Beast Lord with her dying breath to spare her child's life as it should not be punished for crimes he knew nothing about.

Determined to prove that all humans are the same, Clevatess accepts to care for the child with the hopes to prove the baby will also grow up to loath dark beasts even outside its own habitat.

Confused as he has never cared for a human child before, Clevatess resurrects one of the 13 heroes, a female by the name of Alicia to aid him feed and nurse the infant until he is old enough. Alicia who has been nothing but a warrior all her life and is now under the control of Clevatess informs him that she lacks the ability to care for a baby and cannot feed suggesting the search for a wet nurse to meet the requirements of the baby.

To fit in with the rest of humanity, Clevatess takes the form of a human boy adopting the name "Klen". They start their search travelling by road but are attacked by benefits known as The Ravens and are forced to become subservient to them. The party comes in contact with Nell, a captive of these outlaws and as fate would have it, she happens to be a wet nurse as well. Clevatess and Alicia work separately until they end up destroying the hideout of The Ravens along with countless of its members. They rescue Nell from their clutches and together they all set out to continue their journey.

The anime is a really interesting find and offers a sense of fresh air to the usual heroes defeating demon lord theme that most fantasy animes offers. In this very story the Dark Beast Lord is the main protagonist with the story revolving around his decision to either destroy or spare mankind. The characters are already properly fleshed out and so far there is very little to no fan service to make it unbearable. I'll give it a solid 8.5.
