It's always a joy for my children to play with their legos, but it's even more fun when legos are brought to the kitchen counter, building and playing right in the middle of things!
We clean up the house after breakfast every morning, what we call "15 minutes cleanup" where we put some music on our speaker and everyone mobilizes on one task for 5 - 10 minutes, then on to another task. With five (capable) children and two adults all cleaning at the same time, a lot gets done in a little time.
"Clean up the room, c'mon clean up the room. Everybody's helping now, so clean up the room. Pick up the toys, c'mon pick up the toys. Everybody's helping out, oh what a joy. Clean up some more, just clean up some more. Pick up everything you see, so we can see the floor."
The children are quickly beginning to understand how nice a clean and tidy environment is. The kitchen counters gather a lot of items. It's easy to deposit things there, especially when there's a bunch of space. Once the counter is tidy and clean, there is this wide open space to use for fun.... LEGOS!
Now that we have a clean space in the middle of all the activity in our home, it's the perfect place to build with legos. Just remember to "Clean up the toys" when you're done.
Bless the Most High!
We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.
No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each manβs work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13
Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.
Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books.

Lego and Meccano are really good for the intellectual health of children, and I am glad you are encouraging your children to play more with Lego.
Children really enjoy playing legos. !BBH

When I was a kid, I loved to play with puzzles too, but also Meccano.

They are working (cleaning together) and learning in a fun environment. Good for them!
Enjoy the blessings!

That's a good habit for them to learn, cleaning up! So much of life revolves around that skill for some reason...? Glad to see they like those LEGOs!
I didn't realize how much my parents instilled cleanliness in me growing up, until I discovered I had to TEACH my children this. My children have to actually LEARN not to throw garbage on the floor and if they see garbage on the floor, pick it up and throw it away, even if it's NOT 15 minute cleanup. I somehow thought every human was born understanding this, lol. !BBH
it's a great thing when kids understand the benefits of a clean and nice room without "toy hills";)
I try to teach my son to keep it, but when he is in his creative moment of a game, he forgets about everything, so I am patient to wait till the end and remember him again and again that toys have their definite space, and it's not in the center of the room;))
LOL, yes we have had these in the past, but we've been careful to make sure to address them. I remember seeing piles of broken toys, stepping around them to get from place to place.
Yes. Sometimes if toys do not have a definite space, they are definitely gotten rid of. Most of the toys that remain are played with and enjoyed. And have a place to go, when it's time to cleanup.
I notice that the less time on iPad or computers, the more tidy the house stays. We tend to clean up messes that we see and ignore messes we ignore because we're looking at a screen.

Do your kids clean and play (or play and clean) while wearing those quite formal-looking clothing? π€―π !WEIRD !INDEED !PIZZA !DIY
This post is a combination of events from two days: we did a cleaning on Friday and the children played Legos the next day, dressed up nice for Sabbath. They couldn't resist that open and clean counter space! Can't say I blame them. !BBH
Do you mean that your children always dress up nice every Saturday? ππ€―π€ !HOPE !INDEED !HUG !DIY
I think Lego toys are great. Kids and even adults can build according to their imaginations. It's a way to enjoy and learn. Obviously, as you say, a clean place is better, and if everyone cooperates, it's perfect.
Have a nice day.
I am not ashamed to say, I enjoy building with LEGOS even today. I've had great conversations with legos in my hand. !BBH
This is such a great post.... I can totally relate to the kitchen counter struggle. Having a designated clean space for creative play is brilliant. Thanks for sharing π
I'm glad you enjoyed this post! It's interesting how clean and tidy spaces become work/play spaces so quickly and easily. It's an ongoing challenge keeping surfaces tidy, but with 9 people living in this space, both messes and cleanups happen fast. !BBH
Good parenting
Thank you. !BBH
It is such a core thing to teach children about basic things. I'm sure they'll grow up to be amazing individuals with such strong foundations. Have a nice day my friend β€
Thank you for that blessing, I'm counting on them doing well as adults, with God's help, may this come to pass. !BBH
Nice way to make chores fun for kids.

Building Legos as a family can be like putting together a big puzzle.
It is like a puzzle! BTW, my children saw the Lego animation above and said "woah, that's really great. We like it!" They've just started learning about stop-motion videos. !BBH
Very creative having a 15 minute cleanup time my friend!ππ
Looks like it works out very well!π
Works better than I would have expected. My father-in-law called during cleanup and heard the music and commotion in the background. We explained 15 minute cleanup and he asked "what if they just don't do anything". Thankfully that hasn't been a problem.
Glad it is working for you, excellent idea!π
Clean, organized, and tidy spaces make a huge difference! It's like night and day! I think that it's excellent that you guys do a all-hands-on-deck daily cleaning party, and it's a really great way to get very good habits in place! I do wish that it were cleaner and tidier here in the jungle, but I work with what I've got! πππβ¨π€

This made me laugh, I imagine you going around the jungle with a push broom. Although for the record, I don't often imagine naked men in a jungle, but if I do there's a Linux laptop covering him. Tricky while holding a broom!

I came to this post, by your comment of congratulations in a sweepstakes. I opened this publication and I read about your children's attraction for lay games and I stayed because I have a little girl of one year and three months and my wife and I would like her to play these games that help the development of the intellect. But my great surprise was to see that you are a man of faith and that you defend the values of the traditional family. Glory to God for that. I hope to continue reading more about it, as Hive is somewhat limited in this type of content.
Thank you for shining in the midst of the darkness.

I am grateful that you visited my blog and enjoyed the contents therein! There is limited content on this platform that speak of faith and defending tradition family values, therefore I am committed to continuing this content as I am available to do it.
Thank you for using a translator to read the post and to comment! I appreciate the extra effort, I hope it's been worth it!
I really appreciate this statement. We can all shine a little brighter, sometimes our lamps flicker, but we should all keep the flame going through the night.

I agree one hundred percent with everything he says. I hope one day to be able to write more openly about my faith. But the Cuban community to which I belong and which gives me great support, made the decision to avoid sharing both religious (as they call it) and political topics and themes.
Even so, it gives me great joy to see that content with true, healthy and faith-based values is growing and spreading successfully.
The Bible says that a lamp should be placed in a high place (on a mountain) so that everyone can see its light and serve as a guide as lighthouses are for ships. I would not install a lighthouse far from the coast or behind a mountain. Thank you, I am encouraged to see in Hive this kind of content.
Thanks also for the tokens.
