RE: A Student Exercise in Homiletics

As I read the story of the Perfume and Worship Disorder, I saw both the Fallen Condition Focus and the Redemptive Message. Worship disorder is when people give priority to the second tablet of the Law (love for others) while neglecting the first tablet (love for God). This disorder distorts how we see both people and possessions, leading to a misplaced and disordered worship. But in the story, we also find the remedy: when we see Jesus as our Lord and Savior, our worship is restored. True worship in Christ gives us freedom from the grip of money and moves us to genuine care for the poor.
