The question of what culture do you think hive would have been if it were a Ghanaian culture has lingered in my mind since the very day this writing prompt was released about a week ago. I had not gone a day without thinking about it.

The reason why I delayed to submit my entry is because I tried to approach the topic objectively and not just choose my culture without considering other cultures. As you can already tell that has been really difficult.

In as much as I would have love to give the flowers to another culture but mine, I did not really have enough information on that other culture. I might have just ended up creating a sort of enmity with those other cultures I did not choose.

I hail from the northern region of the Ghana. Though the northern region is populated with several cultures, the Dagomba ethnic group is the dominant one and it is the one from which I hail. I am a proud blood of the “Dagbon” Kingdom.

I will not bother to list down our beautiful qualities or values as a culture, but I believe you have understood from how I have started this post that, in my culture, selflessness, community, and hospitality are but a few values we hold in very high regard.

We put our neighbors and visitors above everything else. This is evident as we always grant our visitors chieftaincy on their visit to us. Granting someone chieftaincy is the highest form of respect there is in my culture. Any respectable person who visits us an shows respect to our main chief, is liable to receive a higher form of respect from the chief through a grant of a small chieftaincy.

I feel this form of respect and welcoming nature from the community here on hive. So if I am being ask about what culture Hive would be if it were a Ghanaian culture my answer is, Hive would be of the people of the Dagbon Kingdom in the northern region of Ghana 🇬🇭.

Thank you.

Hospitality and respect are distinguished characteristics of Ghanaians, and they are even more apparent in the northern regions. Although I haven't personally visited the north, I have friends from that area I have attested to the remarkable hospitality and respectfulness of those from the north. These admirable qualities are also reflected in the Hive community, where everyone is welcome and their perspectives are valued. Hive provides an inclusive environment that welcomes individuals to be part of a larger family. I truly appreciate your insights, and thank you for sharing them.
