Hola, amigos. Otra vez dedico un tiempo valioso a este rincón de coleccionistas. Desde que descubrí esta comunidad, he comprobado que ese afán por guardar hoy me hace tener tesoros y compartirlos. Por lo general, todos tenemos en casa una biblioteca. En el caso de la mía, la tengo bastante organizada. Dentro de ella, tengo una colección de diccionarios muy valiosos.

Algún día se los mostraré. Sucede que al ser profesor de Lingüística en una Universidad, muestro a mis estudiantes el valor de las palabras. Para ello intenté hacer una colección de libros de gazapos, todos pertenecientes a un mismo autor. Él publicó 4 tomos, y solo tengo el primero, el tercero y el cuarto. Nunca encontré el segundo.

Pero en mi gran estante tengo un rincón especial. Ahí atesoro los libros más chiquitos, tan pequeños, que caben en el bolsillo. Para eso fueron diseñados. Esta colección la guardo profundamente y no la presto. De ellos, solo mostré uno a un niño hace 7 años y le arrancó la carátula. Es el minilibro “Había una vez”. Eso me dio una gran lección: no se prestan.

En cada feria del libro efectuada en mi provincia, siempre busqué estos libros tan pequeños. Ya no se venden. Por eso los guardo con orgullo. Hoy abrí la caja en la que los guardo y me los llevé a mi set de fotografías de Hive, por eso ves las calcomanías de fondo. A este sitio llevo los objetos que fotografío para mostrarlos después.

Una vez que lo limpié todo, que tuve esas losas inmaculadas, los organicé. Me demoré mucho, porque sentí la necesidad de leer algunos; no recordaba los argumentos de varias historias, pero son fáciles de leer. En ellos está una literatura infantil impregnada de valores humanos. Son cuentos que ya no son tan conocidos. Ni la televisión los versiona, algo tan lamentable. Por eso los guardo. Gracias a ellos me hice un hombre de bien y algún día los leeré a mis hijos, pero no los tocarán hasta que me demuestren cuidado.

De estos libritos, hay dos que significan mucho para mí, pues no los compré. Los heredé de una maestra que veían en mí las ansias por la lectura. Son los primeros que tuve. Cuando vi que publicaban libros tan pequeños, me interesé por coleccionarlos. Los más pequeños tienen 8 cm de largo por 7 cm de ancho. Los más grandes, que también son pequeños, tienen 13 cm de largo por 9 cm de ancho.

Atesoro esas obras de Grimm, Andersen, autores con los cuales ha crecido el mundo y cuyas obras son universalmente conocidas, traducidas y queridas por millones de personas. Tengo también de autores cubanos y hasta la Convención de los Derechos del Niño, que en forma de minilibro fue publicada hace ya algunos años.

De esa colección de minilibros hay 3 que presté y nunca más regresaron a mí. No olvido los títulos: “La última hoja”, de O. Henry; “Dan-Auta”, cuento de José Ortega y Gasset y “El pastor y la hija del Sol”, del gran Herminio Almendros. Sin duda alguna, los libros no se prestan, a menos que sea a alguien de confianza. Espero algún día recuperarlos.

Mientras tanto, hojeo de vez en cuando estos pequeños tesoros. Los niños deben conocer este tipo de publicación. Hoy las nuevas tecnologías han robado la atención de los hijos. La lectura debe ser una fuente para disfrutar en familia y estimular la imaginación, la creatividad. Coleccionar también contribuye a eso. Me gusta mucho leer sobre las colecciones de los amigos de esta comunidad.

Generally, we all have a library at home. In the case of mine, I have it quite organized. Within it, I have a collection of very valuable dictionaries.

Someday I will show them to you. It happens that being a professor of Linguistics at a University, I show my students the value of words. For this purpose I tried to make a collection of gazetteer books, all belonging to the same author. He published 4 volumes, and I only have the first, the third and the fourth. I never found the second one.

But on my big bookshelf I have a special corner. There I treasure the smallest books, so small that they fit in my pocket. That's what they were designed for. I keep this collection deeply and do not lend it out. Of them, I only showed one to a child 7 years ago and he tore the cover off. It's the "Once upon a time" mini-book. That taught me a great lesson: they don't lend them out.

At every book fair held in my province, I always looked for these tiny books. They are no longer sold. That is why I keep them with pride. Today I opened the box I keep them in and took them to my Hive photography set, that's why you see the stickers in the background. This is where I take the items I photograph to show later.

Once I cleaned everything up, once I had those immaculate slabs, I organized them. It took me a long time, because I felt the need to read some of them; I didn't remember the plots of several stories, but they are easy to read. In them is a children's literature impregnated with human values. They are stories that are not so well known anymore. Not even television versions of them, which is so unfortunate. That is why I keep them. Thanks to them I became a good man and someday I will read them to my children, but they will not touch them until they show me care.

Of these little books, there are two that mean a lot to me, because I did not buy them. I inherited them from a teacher who saw in me an eagerness to read. They are the first ones I had. When I saw that they published such small books, I became interested in collecting them. The smallest ones are 8 cm long by 7 cm wide. The larger ones, which are also small, are 13 cm long by 9 cm wide.

I treasure those works of Grimm, Andersen, authors with whom the world has grown up and whose works are universally known, translated and loved by millions of people.
