Getting Into Web3 Through Hive

I have spoken quite a number of times about how I found hive but for the purpose of the #dreemport challenge, I would be writing again on how I found hive, what I like about hive and what I initially expected from the hive blockchain. I wouldn’t want to sound like a broken record or repeat so much so for the benefit of those who have read my introductory post and other posts I have made on the topic, I would try not to bore you again. If you have not though, kindly stick around as I relive my journey of finding hive.

I got into hive at a time when my life was at maybe a low. I had just squandered some of my money in a Ponzi scheme and wasn’t doing well at all. I was ready to squander the rest of my money and savings because I had made a very bad investment. I was angry and just wanted to get my lost funds my entering into more bad investments. That path led me to squandering more of my money because I ventured into more scams and paid the price.

At the time I fell victim to the Ponzi, I had started learning about cryptocurrency. I was not so much abreast with the crypto makings and so I fell to the peer pressure of all my friends who were already in the Ponzi and making money. It didn’t look legit but the fact that we could withdraw our earnings made us want to invest.

One day, after we had our afternoon prayers, miscalculations started happening on the platform and withdrawals stopped working. It was evident to us at the time that we had been scammed and all our investments and finances had been lost.

Fast forward from that bad experience, @depressedfuckup suggested I join hive. He had made his research and had already joined and referred us all to create accounts too. I initially did because I did not want continuous bugging about the same thing and so I just created so I would not have to hear about it anymore. I wanted to be done with these crypto stuff.

So, I was not posting till my brother @rubilu started posting and taking platform more seriously. He encouraged me to take the blockchain seriously and try to post and earn rewards. It all sounded a bit far fetched but I did some research and realized web3 platforms like hive were legit. They aren’t like web2 platforms twitter and facebook that just take your data and money and offer you noting in return. I started my web3 journey from there and I’ve been glad since then for taking the step.

Initially, I expected to get a lot of rewards by doing little. I thought merely blogging and not doing the other aspects like engaging would be enough but I was made aware that wouldn’t cut it. I have tried to be more active, more consistent and more engaging since that time and it has helped. I have made new friends on hive and I have some very good interactions with a lot of people.

What I like about hive is the various opportunities and varieties it entails. Hive is not just blogging but there’s so much more. You can decide to become a short content creator by using Leo threads or a long form content creator. You can be a vlogger as well with 3speak or a gamer. With hive you’re exposed to blockchain games like splinterlands, woo, among others.

I would like to explore all these aspects of the blockchain including investing in some of the other secondary tokens like $LEO, LGN, MUT, among others.
