Ist VAR ein Fluch oder Segen? Beim Spiel Deutschland gegen Dänemark gab es gleich zwei umstrittene VAR-Entscheidungen, zuerst wurde ein Tor der Dänen wegen Abseits aberkannt, aber in der VAR-Analyse ging es dabei um nur wenige Millimeter eines Schuhs.
Für einen menschlichen Linienrichter wäre das vermutlich kein Abseits gewesen und ein legitimes Tor.
Kritisiert wird auch, dass VAR-Analysen langsam sind und eine Genauigkeit vorgetäuscht wird, die vielleicht mit der jetzigen Technik gar nicht existiert oder nicht notwendig wäre.
Andererseits muss man irgendwo eine Grenze ziehen. Die Regeln sind so wie sie sind.
Ohne Abseits-Regel würde es wahrscheinlich viel mehr Tore geben, mit Abseits gibt man dem Gegner die Chance einen Angriff noch mit mindestens einem Feldspieler potentiell abwehren zu können.
Ein Tor wegen einem Millimeter falscher Schuhposition abzuerkennen, ist aber heftig.
Und dann gab es noch eine zweite umstrittene VAR-Entscheidung, ein Handspiel, das dann sogar zu einem Elfmeter und Tor führte, allerdings selbst im Video (VAR) nicht so eindeutig erkennbar war, aber angeblich durch einen Sensor im Ball bestätigt wurde.
Ohne VAR würde das Publikum vor dem Fernseher mehr wissen als die Schiedsrichter und es kann dann ebenfalls zu krassen Fehlentscheidungen kommen.
Was meint ihr, ist VAR in der jetzigen Form gut oder schlecht? Sollten die Regeln auf VAR angepasst/gelockert werden?

Is VAR a curse or a blessing? There were two controversial VAR decisions in the match between Germany and Denmark. First, a Danish goal was disallowed for offside, but in the VAR analysis it was only a few millimeters of a shoe.
For a human linesman, this would probably not have been offside and would have been a legitimate goal.
Another criticism is that VAR analyses are slow and feign an accuracy that may not even exist or be necessary with the current technology.
On the other hand, you have to draw a line somewhere. The rules are the way they are.
Without the offside rule there would probably be a lot more goals, with offside you give the opponent the chance to potentially fend off an attack with at least one outfield player.
But to disallow a goal because of a millimeter of incorrect shoe position is a bit harsh.
And then there was a second controversial VAR decision, a handball that even led to a penalty and a goal, but was not so clearly recognizable even in the video (VAR), but was allegedly confirmed by a sensor in the ball.
Without VAR, the audience in front of the TV would know more than the referees and this can also lead to blatantly wrong decisions.

I don't know which option to pick as I feel I don't agree with those 2. I think VAR is a great tool that is being grossly misused. To start, there are always questions as to where and how it should apply.
For example, let's say team A recovers the ball 3 times in a game. 2 of those times it looked like very dangerous counter-attacks but the ref wrongly calls a foul. The third time, it's actually a foul, the ref doesn't call it, team A scores, VAR calls the ref, and the go is disallowed. Are we using it too much or too little? Team A was clearly and unfairly penalized by the actions of the ref in the first 2 situations and VAR was only able to correct the decision that went wrongly in their favor. Should refs start allowing the play to go on in these situations, the same way they do with offsides, to allow the VAR to correct it if needed?
Another situation that is unfair: Team A commits a penalty but the ref doesn't see it. The game goes on, the ball doesn't go out for a couple of minutes. Team A eventually scores but VAR calls for a penalty. The penalty should 100% be called here but Team also lost a legal goal here. Calls like this shouldn't have to wait for the ball to go out. They should call the ref as soon as possible and, unless it's a dangerous situation, the ref should stop the game to make the decision as soon as possible.
Now, the offside situation. We used to have an offside rule that relied on the assistants to spot it and decide it in real-time. The rule was that, when in doubt, don't call for offside. The good thing with VAR is that it catches the terrible decisions of half a meter or more offside or onside that were wrongly called. The bad thing is that they call these 1 foot or less offside as offside. They are applying the rules, it's not their fault. But, we have a new technology and we're applying it with the same old rules. The offside rule needs to be updated so that these situations are valid goals because they clearly don't respect the whole idea of offside.
good points, not VAR is the main problem, but the old rules were not made with VAR in mind, all those situations need to be addressed somehow, maybe there should be some defined tolerance for VAR and VAR should also be as real-time as possible.
Es wird immer nur die Situation an der Linie geezeigt, und da entscheidet jeder cm! Aber wer kann genau sagen, welcher Zeitpunkt zählt? Wann genau war die Ballabgabe? Das müsste man genauso mit dem Zentimetermaßstab messen. Solange das nicht auch eingeblendet wird, kann damit perfekt manipuliert werden.
Guter Punkt, manchmal sieht man die Ballabgabe deutlich, manchmal nicht so genau. Eigentlich müsste man zeitgleich auf die Ballabgabe hineinzoomen, um das auch Millimeter (Millisekunden) genau kontrollieren zu können, angeblich gibt es auch einen Sensor im Ball der die Ballabgabe misst. Aber diese Daten sind nicht öffentlich ersichtlich.

Var just make sure, that the rules are applied to if its a few cm or inches, or half a meter.
I like the VAR. It is fair. If something is now changing the game, we should think about changing the rules but still use VAR to follow trhem strictly.
I think a millimeter difference is too small. If it was a few cms but machines tend to be more accurate. So I can't really say and the referees can be more bias so I tend to think that machines making the call is better.
For some things var is good, like some actions not seen by ref or actions where live situation is not clear, it needs some improvements

Es macht die Entscheidungen genauer und damit gerechter, weil es weniger von der (oft falschen) Einschätzung der Schiedsrichter abhängt. Mit der Zeit wird die Technik sicherlich genauer und schneller.
Besonders bei so knappen Situationen wie hier, ist es doch gut, dass es eindeutig entschieden wird und nicht vom Zufall abhängt. Wie du richtig schreibst: Abseits ist Abseits und irgendwo muss man die Grenze ziehen.
I think VAR makes football too soft, I mean I get it, we should play by the rules and the more accurate it is the more fair the game is in determining who is the better team.
But being 1cm in the offside and having your goal taken away is still pretty ridiculous to me.

Entweder ganz oder gar nicht. Es gibt schlimmeres. Zum Beispiel wenn eine Spielsituation zu früh abgepfiffen wird und sich im nachhinein feststellt, das gar kein Foul/Abseits vorlag.
Es gleicht sich vieles aus. Das erste Tor der Deutschen war in meinen Augen auch kein Foul.....

I wouldn’t say VAR is too accurate but it is very much close to accurate
I think it's taken a certain charm out of the sport.
Schwieriges thema, beim eishockey funktioniert es halbwegs mit dem abseits weil man nur eine linie kontrollieren muss und selbst da ist es ab und zu mal strittig.
Beim fußball ist das schon grenzwertig wenn angeblich ein zehennagel vorsteht und das abspiel 30 meter entfernt stattfand, ob da die koordination immer so genau passt weis ich nicht.

Wie ist die Abseitsregel beim Eishockey? Welche Position auf dem Eis zählt?
Grob gesagt muss der Puck vor dem Spieler im angriffsdrittel sein.
Da es halt noch etwas schneller ist als beim fußball, lässt man da eigentlich alle knappen situationen weiterlaufen und nur wenn ein tor daraus entsteht kann der trainer einen videobeweis verlangen.
Hat er recht zählt das tor nicht, war es kein abseits zählt das tor plus eine 2 minutenstrafe wegen spielverzögerung.
Kannte ich gar nicht. Versuchs wieder zu vergessen.

Bin zwiegespalten... Einerseits finde ich es gut, dass Entscheidungen wie Abseits nicht mehr falsch getroffen werden können, andererseits passt das Konzept einfach nicht zu den Emotionen im Fußball
