Beware of new Ethereum scam on Twitter/X, scammers claim ethereum.org to pay back all your spent gas fees.

Was sagt ihr dazu?

"Ethereum Gas Fees Redistributed" Scam on Twitter/X

twitter-ethereum-scam-1.jpg

Ethereum scam ad on twitter/x claiming ethereum.org to redistribute your spent gas fees.

twitter-ethereum-scam-2.jpg

The scam ad links to the following phishing website ethergases.com.example.com and wants to connect to your MetaMask wallet and probably trick you into signing a transaction.

Note: example.com added to not link to the fake website

English

I recently received the following fraudulent advertisement on Twitter/X and briefly thought it was an official campaign by the Ethereum Foundation.

Only after some research was I able to recognize the ad, which at first glance looked legitimate, as a scam.

Firstly, the ad does not link to ethereum.org but redirects you to a new website that was only registered two days ago:

ethergases.com.example.com

Secondly, the ad is not placed by the official Ethereum account on X, but by a user with the name "jake4146".

Ads on social media or Google are often a gateway for phishing attacks and scams.

And thirdly, if you think about it for a moment, the scam falls back into the "too good to be true" category. Why should Ethereum refund all your gas fees, how are they going to fund this?!

What do you think? Did you see this scam too? Would you have recognized the post as fake immediately?

Live your Secrets and Hive Prosper 🍯

xx Viki @vikisecrets

Unfortunately, scams are a daily occurrence and not only in the cryptomarket.

To be Sincere, it looks catchy and enchanting but one should be able to detect that things like this is nearly impossible 😅

There are a lot of scams and I did not see this scam. Never connect your wallet on those shady sites and it's sad to see people get scammed.

There are many scams on the internet, first they give you a small task after that they give you small crypto. After that they ask you to invest, as soon as you invest , they disappear. Thanks for informing about new scam.

If you want to work in this market, you have to stay away from such people, otherwise they take all your money, never click on any link.
