On the Festive Trail

This holiday season has been one of a kind for me because I've literally been on the road right from the very first day of the holiday season until about a couple of hours ago, and those moments were spent being there for my friends and loved ones who had one or two things to celebrate during this festive season. Overall, it's exciting, and today I'll love to tell you all about it.

The holiday season began on the 16th of this month of December, meaning the last day of work was the 15th. As my friend and a fellow Hivean were getting married on the very first day of the holiday, I had to take an excuse off work to ditch our end-of-year party for a chance to grace my friend @sholex94 wedding ceremony.

Sholex and I attended the same university and also studied the same course. We also attended the same church fellowship during our school days, and after much consideration of how the timing of the ceremony was close to our end-of-year party, I almost didn't attend. But after speaking with our other coursemates and most of them giving different excuses why they wouldn't be able to attend, I felt it wouldn't be nice for any of us not to go.

So I boarded a bus from Lagos State on Friday afternoon, heading towards Kwara State, and didn't arrive at my destination until late at night the same day. I just took a shower and slept off, waking up early the next day as the traditional wedding was supposed to be held as early as 7 a.m. I got prepared but was delayed by @moremoney28 , who wanted us to go together but didn't arrive on time.

Well, I had to settle for the church service when we didn't arrive on time for the traditional wedding, and it was a joy to behold. The wedding ceremony went smoothly, and I was filled with joy seeing my friend finally leave we the single men's club behind. The choir was so go, and I couldn't help but laugh at seeing @moremoney28 dance joyfully around the church as though he were the groom. Painfully, I didn't capture those moments on camera.

At the end of the church program, loads of foods and drinks were passed around at the reception, and we had enough to eat as we also took multiple pictures with the new couple. I was also thrilled to meet other Hiver who graced the occasions, like @mojtee07, @moremoney28, and @harhess . I had lots of fun, and I guess the ceremony was a call to action for me to be serious about my marital status going forward.

Not long after the wedding, I travel down to the far north-eastern part of the country to greet some of my friends who reside in Yobe and Bornu State. It was a great atmosphere to get to see all of them after about 5 years since we last saw them; many of them are married and have their own children. It's just a wonderful experience, and I really enjoyed the moment before traveling back to Kwara State and arriving on the 24th.

I came back here because my brother @seunny birthday was yesterday, the 25th of December, which also happens to be Christmas day. With them, we did some catching up with both him and his wife, my niece and nephew, whom I brought loads of gifts for.

The birthday wasn't celebrated, but I just wanted to be there, and we still had some fried rice and chicken with some chill juice to go with it. The wife then said that since I'm around and have a good camera on my phone, it's best they take some family pictures with it, and I was happy to play with the cameras while they post for the camera.
Overall, it's been exciting throughout the holiday season, even though I've mostly been on the road, and tomorrow again I'll be on the road returning to Lagos before I decide what next to do or where else to go during this season.

That's about all my holiday-season activities thus far. I hope you enjoyed the read. Do have a wonderful night's rest and stay blessed.

Your holiday was indeed eventful. From one place to another, I believe you saw a lot of structural changes in the places you went. It's nice to see that your holiday was well spent and it gave you a foresight for the new year. I wish you happy New year in advance.
