Educational Revamp: My Vision for Transforming Our System

Education is one of the most important components that helps mold a society in the right direction, and it's also a fundamental human right that we all should pass through so we can contribute to something significant in society and also have a voice when others converse. Illiteracy is a disease, and many have weaponized it against the people. In order to have a forward-thinking and prosperous nation, we need to integrate somethings and also filter some out of our education system, and today I'll love to share my two pieces on this.

Has an educator I've been in the education system for awhile, and I've come to see different things being integrated and some thrown out of our education system. My dad was also an educator, and this, along with my days in school as a student, has led me to see many things and be appreciative of some, which I think are quite decent, but then there are some. I also felt it wasn't really necessary.

Moving forward about what I'll plunge out of our education system, then it'll be the excessive workload of the theoretical aspect of each subject. When you take a critical look at the education system in my country, you'll notice that they placed more emphasis on the theory aspect of this subject, and in my opinion, though theory is good, it won't aid the understanding of students like practical would have, so if I were to be privileged to remove one, I'll definitely not think twice before minimizing the rate at which theory took over our education system.

You can imagine going to school to learn about computers, but all they do is consume your entire learning duration with countless theories about computers. I for one studied computers at the higher institution, and I can tell you for a fact that throughout the years I spent at the university, we never had a course that made the school or lectures take us to the lab for further explanation; instead, we ended up doing a programming course, and all they do is explain with mouth and also read different materials to scale through the exams.

So in a nutshell, what I'll do is drastically reduce the theoretical aspects of our education system in all subjects, so there will be room for practicality to complement the system and make it more seamless for the students to comprehend and digest.

And just like I stated, which is like the opposite of the removed one, are the practical aspects of different subjects, but it won't just stop at the subject alone; what I'll also love to integrate is a trade career and skills aspect into our education system, which I believe will aid the betterment of lives for all after school. If you're a Nigerian and have graduated, then you'll understand how hard it's to get a job after finishing school.

But in a situation where, aside from the core subjects we're taught, we can have career/skills development integrated into our education, this will help students brood and improve in their talents, get better, and also in whatever skills they wish to acquire. This is a system that is available in third-world countries, and you see students learning music, crafts, and specific sports, which can in the long run improve their experience and become relevant and earning mediums after school.

These skills, when integrated into our education and taught in our schools, will help pave the way for a better future for the students. For instance, if one is unfortunate enough to not get a job, they can easily dive into the skills they've acquired, which is the education system, to make ends meet, and all they'll need to do is indulge in a few further improvement courses to become themselves and deliver a better job.

So that's about it for now. I hope you enjoyed the read. Thanks for your time. Have a wonderful day ahead.

amazing, I also mentioned about practical aspect of study in my article, it means, it is missing in most of the country. I don't know why they are neglecting it, but they need to work on it and work for the betterment of education system.
