5 Minute Freewrite - Pen Knife

Doing a challenge on 5 minute Freewrite, please see below for my story:

Jane had always carried a pen knife in her pocket. She had inherited it from her grandfather, who had given it to her when she was just a little girl. She had always loved the intricate designs on the handle and the sharpness of the blade. She never left home without it.

One day, on her way home from work, she found herself in a deserted alleyway. She heard footsteps behind her, and her heart began to race. She turned around and saw a man with a knife, coming towards her. Instinctively, she reached for her own pen knife and held it up, ready to defend herself.

The man hesitated when he saw Jane's pen knife, and then turned and ran away. Jane felt a surge of relief and gratitude towards her grandfather for giving her the pen knife. She knew that she had been lucky, and that things could have ended very differently if she hadn't been prepared.

From that day on, Jane made sure to carry her pen knife with her wherever she went. She knew that she might never have to use it again, but she felt safer knowing that she had it with her just in case. It had become a part of her, a reminder of her grandfather's love and a symbol of her own strength and courage.
