Let's talk music and play ( day 2 Contest ) end of this week

It all started in 1898, when the city of Elmore passed a law prohibiting all public dances. It also prevented generations of teenagers from playing soccer, one of the country's most popular rituals. Popularized around the world through countless movies, books, and television shows, prom is a high school moment that culminates with marriage proposals, the selection of the night's king and queen, and other ceremonies. In a town in the southern United States everything was illegal. This action was motivated by strict religious doctrine and was later justified because it was believed to maintain harmony among students and allow them to focus solely on their studies. But in the late 1970s, Leonard Coffey, a teenager who had recently moved to the city, wanted to change things.

This story reached the ears of writer Dean Pitchford, who was composing music at the time. Incredulous, he decided to go to the town of Elmore, where he got his license and sat down to write, drafting the story in a few days. He had to make 22 different versions before a Hollywood studio showed interest, but the effort was worth it.

Choosing a protagonist was not an easy task. The producers originally wanted Tom Cruise to play the role, which they were interested in, but were unable to do so due to his prior commitments filming Forever Young. Rob Lowe also came close, but he made a bad casting move that he still regrets. Back and forth, Christopher Atkins was selected. Shortly after appearing in The Secret of the Blue Lagoon, he seemed perfect for the role, but he showed up to his first meeting with the director under the influence of drugs and immediately turned on the team's emergency lights.
