SSG Stackers Engagement Initiative #7 - 5 HSBI For Grabs - Winners & New Question

Silver gold stackers engagement initiative (1).png

Another week has passed

And once again, I want to thank everyone for taking the time to answer the questions. I read them all, but have to comment some people still as I read them while I was on my phone (not logged in). I will do so tomorrow rather than rushing this tonight as it's already late.

I'm personally bookmarking all these posts because I think the answers are often very valuable for me and maybe other people who are interested in silver stacking. I'm afraid if I don't bookmark them now, I will not be able to find back all these valuable resources you all were willing to share with me. I'm very grateful for all the support!

On top of that it's been very fun to read some of your stories and some of your trips down memory lane as well. It's always a big plus when I find some personal story in the comment section or a personal post. You are a great bunch of people!

Winner, winner, who gets to pay for dinner?

Week 6's question can be found here and if I counted correctly, 14 people took the time to answer the question (thanks all!) and this week there will be 5 HSBI shares given.

I will try to throw some more shares around next week as this week I had to take out some of my funds therefore it's only the bare minimum I'm handing out. If you aren't one of the chosen ones this week, don't worry because I'm sure you will find your name in the list soon because I'm going to keep building the shares and will keep sponsoring others at the same time.

Drumroll.. @maddogmike @dbooster @bulliontools @kunschj @silverd510

This week I picked your answers as the winning ones, that doesn't mean that I didn't value the others because I do! I'm going to send out your shares in a bit so you should see them reflect on your HSBI balance as soon as the bot has processed the transaction.

This week's question

And with that, it's time to get to a new question..

Week 7 Silver gold stackers engagement initiative question week 6.png

My thoughts

Clearly there's reasoning behind this question as I'm genuinely curious what your thoughts and tips are on the subject. I think it was during my silver hunt for the myths and legends dragon coin that I bumped on all these colorized versions (not just from this one but others too) and although I thought they looked amazing, I wondered if they were worth the premium.

I assumed the silver price would still be the same so what's the point of buying the colourized version of some editions that may never go up in value over time. I'm not at the point where I could predict (more or less) which coins are more likely to be worth more in the future other than looking at a lower mintage of the coins. Therefore, I'd personally not buy any colourized coins unless I find it such an amazing coin and just want to have it for the sake of owning it, not for the value.

At this moment I'm not ready to buy high premium coins yet as my collection is still tiny and I don't want to have overpriced pieces only lol, in the end I hope to have a nice collection of close to spot pieces and not so high premiums while also being able to collect some pieces that are amazing in terms of their art and a special treat for myself where I'm allowing myself to pay a bit more than I'd normally be comfortable with.

I'm not sure if that will be a colourized one though, and now I'm genuinely curious about your opinion and how you decide to pick the regular version or colourized one if you're able to pick either one.

Let's hear your thoughts

Everyone has their own reasons and goals in collecting silver and gold so I bet there will be a diversity in answers, which makes it more fun even. I'm hoping that I gain some insights on how to make a good decision according to the OG collectors.

A comment is enough to have a shot at one of the HSBI shares but if you want to write a post, please feel free to do so, if you link the post below, I will definitely not overlook it.

Have a great week ahead everyone!

Thanks so much!

I personally don't think the premium on colorized coins is worth it unless you simply want it for the beauty. I'm sure there are exceptions where it could be a profitable investment, but overall, the general sentiment is many don't care for them.

I do have a picture of one colorized bar I used to have, but have now sold.

I personally HATE colorized coins, I believe that it ruins the coin. You want a painting buy a painting. You want a coin buy a coin. They should be sold for less!!!!!
I will not ever buy a colorized coin.

Strong opinion there but I appreciate your answer. The first time that I checked a coin that also had a colourized version (without checking the weight yet) I wondered if the weight would be including the paint or not and why they'd be more expensive. But I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) the weight is 1oz silver without including the paint.

There are some really beautiful ones in my opinion but I'm not sure if I'd ever buy one because I really appreciate the silver a lot..

Yes the coin itself is one ounce of silver or gold. They are struck then the color is added. I’m an old school numismatic coin collector, to me coloring a coin is defacing it.

Clear! Thanks for sharing your opinion.. it seems to be the overall opinion amongst most (as I expected).

I don't like colorized silver coins.

It does not worth extra premium

Makes sense, I wondered if that was a common opinion.. seems so..

I tend to be a traditionalist and purist when it comes to minting coins so I feel that colorized coins are beyond what is necessary as a value added feature on a given coin or round design. As in any special piece it would depend not just the esthetics but also intent of the artist communicating to the buyer of the coin. I have very few of such silver pieces.

I usually don't like colored coins, but every now and again I run across something really cool and then I don't mind. But generally I'm purist with my silver!

Seems to be the overall opinion, which I understand seeing some of the premium on top :o
