Silver Dragon Cuff Links & Extreme Wind

Wind and silver dragon cuff links.png

That wind!

Remember that I wrote there was a lot of wind predicted since Friday, lasting until this afternoon? And yesterday I also shared that it was raining cats and dogs so it was definitely not going to be the weekend we envisioned where we'd head out to take in some natural vitamin D as well as go flea market hunting today in the costa tropical. I didn't like it, but what else can you do than deal with it, it's not like I can change the weather.

The weather looks nice!

This morning around 8 AM, my boyfriend opened the blinds and came to wake me up to tell me. He said it looks sunny and I don't hear any wind.. If you want, we can go to the flea market anyway. Mind you, it's a 1,5 hours drive and earlier this week he said he'd only go if I would drive half of it myself, which I don't want, lol. I still have not driven along the coast myself and I'm definitely not keen on doing so with any of these wind gusts going on recently.

I got all excited

I mean, normally we'd get up a little earlier to go there but if we wanted to we'd be able to get out in 30 minutes and still be early so I said I'd check the weather prediction. Funny thing is that I still didn't hear any wind gusts myself either and also didn't wake up from them last night while the previous nights, I did. I was surprised to still find the wind warning pop up or both our town as well as the one we'd have to drive to. It's not an in-land trip at all, it's a constant drive along the coast and some parts have wind warnings even when it's not extremely windy.

Let's not risk it

When I saw that warning in both cities, we both felt it wouldn't be a smart move to drive there, risking an accident with these wind gusts. Heck, we could possibly arrive there and find that the market was cancelled as I could not find any message about it online. That's doesn't mean that there was no message btw, sometimes these messages are published in the strangest groups and I find them by accident rather direct search. Anyway, the plans were cancelled as fast as they appeared. I really loved that my boyfriend decided to wake me up for it though because he knew I really wanted to go. Looking back, it's a good move we didn't decide on going because it took a few hours only before the wind picked up badly.

The balcony furniture

Although we always make sure the furniture of the owner is placed inside each other so it stays on the balcony with these winds, it can be hard to manage because it's shitty and light furniture, which is a stupid move living directly on this windy coast, but ok. So far so good. The furniture was now in front of our balcony door, so we had to do something about it. Seeing that my boyfriend was almost taken by the wind while doing so, I thought I'd call the little one for a nice demonstration of the wind. This was a picture taken not even during the biggest wind gusts because I wanted her inside then, but you get the point:

Now for the silver part

Let's get to the fun part of this post because I wanted to share these cuff links we bought in Budapest after I went looking for them yesterday. I forgot the details and how they looked exactly, so I wanted to take pictures and check if I could find more information now.

Silver Vietnam Dragon Cuff links (4).jpg

Vietnam silver

This time it's a pair of silver cuff links we picked up back in Budapest when we finally were able to visit the weekend flea market. Sadly, the first period of our stay there we could not visit it because of having no transportation and then Covid hit the world so the market didn't happen for some time and/or part of the time there were just a few stalls that didn't make it worth visiting. It was quite a shame that when we finally could go, we couldn't because of this madness closing everything in the world.

Lots of junk

Like on most flea markets, this market disappointed us a bit because there were just a few stalls and most was real junk. There were a few stalls that looked more like small shops but then you already know they pay a lot more for their place as their stuff stays on the spot rather than having a stall they put up and break down every weekend. What we saw there was mostly ceramics and bronze, and definitely not cheap. I'm sure a deal could be made somewhere but this was not what we were looking for honestly.

A gypsy

I remember that there was a gypsy guy who didn't really have an official stall the sell anything but apparently that was no problem. He had a bunch of cufflinks and other jewellery in a box and we spotted these and both knew we had to take them home. We didn't pay much for them, I don't remember how much exactly but we walked away with a very good price for sure.

Even if we weren't going to sell them, my boyfriend liked them enough to wear them, so this was surely a win. At home we started looking for them and I remember not finding too much info. Yesterday I took new pictures of the backside:

I think the inscription says:

Viet Nam
BO/900
H-T-X
Rang Dong

But I've been Googling different words as I'm really not sure. Either way, I can't find these exact ones, a few similar ones with dragons, very close but not 100% the same ranging from 125 to 200 euros. It's all good though because they aren't for sale, we are keeping them anyway.

You know I love dragons and silver so re-discovering this pair and seeing that these had dragons on them was a nice surprise. I guess my dragon and silver love started even before the coin collecting! But what's not to love when there's so much dragon art on all that silver in the world!

Need more silver jewellery!

To find more of these silver (with or without gem stones) cuff links as well as jewellery now that I've spent a few days of browsing for that directly. There surely are good deals to be spotted if you look well enough and often even the stone alone makes it worth the buy.

I hope you enjoyed this pair of silver dragon cuff links that were hidden in one of the boxes in the closet and almost forgotten about.. If you have a cool pair of cuff links that you're proud of, don't hesitate to share them in the comment section!

I hope you have a nice Sunday over there & I hope it's a lot less windy for you than it is for me here :)

All pictures are mine...

I think your guy will eventually have so many cufflinks to choose from that he won't know which one to wear. I have to admit that these do look very cool.

LOL it's possible but it's a matter of bumping into them or not. I won't buy them if I don't see any valuable gem or silver or certain brand that makes them valuable even if you want to sell them. For example picking these up for 20 euros will still make you able to at least sell them for double even if they're second hand, and they don't take in much space :)

I remember in Holland we used to do this too with ceramic plates and vases which is way more space consuming :) lol

Those are really nice! Looks like you got a good deal. I've never picked up any Vietnamese silver before. Interesting. Too bad the wind ruined the flea market day!

How are you doing?

The design is what sold them to be honest, not because it said Vietnamese, at the time we were just looking for some nice things we wanted to keep or maybe sell later.. I forgot about them for a while, heck they ended up in a plastic little bag when moving as if it was just a random fake little piece of jewellery (the horror!) ...

The market still continued so I saw at pictures later, and it was probably a good day to pick up good deals when people don't want to be in the rain all day but not a pleasant trip for us..

I'm ok, just loads and loads of hurdles of paperwork steps, I keep thinking I got it sorted and then another hurdle appears. I'm actively trying to solve them or get the solution to solve them though. Fingers crossed the stars align to it's sorted soon :)

I have not been reading much the past days though.. starting a course now so will try to make time in the evenings for that :)

Hope you're good!

You're little one probably wouldn't have liked the flea market in that weather, or you two for that matter. The deals might have been good!

I hear you one paperwork, it never ends...

You need to take time for yourself to save your sanity from paperwork. I think I many have already lost mine...

I hope you have a great day and talk to you later tonight!

Yes, that's what I figured the mark would mean as well, the design is what sold them at the time though :)
