Beautiful postcard designed by @llunasoul who is an amazing artist and I think this text is fitting for this post so I'm promoting her work again!

How things seemed to have changed

I really didn't feel it was this complicated getting any original certificate from Holland when we just arrived here in 2016. In fact, it was just an easy login and quickly arranged after paying with IDEAL (this is something really Dutch I think). At the time this was all not an issue as I still had my Dutch bank account. When these fees started to rise higher and higher, I closed it after a few years of not really needing it. It was a big step though because it felt like that last life line or something that makes getting stuff from Holland easier because of the IDEAL payment system for which you (at least then) needed to have a Dutch bank account.

Revolut

I've been a Revolut account owner for quite a few years now and even had a few years of being a very satisfied Metal customer until we moved back to Spain and there was the need for a Spanish bank account (which Revolut didn't offer yet at the time we moved back) otherwise the tax office would not allow the self employment registration. We went back in circles and tried several things, but ended up with a real Spanish bank, in the end, once it was all opened and working, we're quite happy with them because it will all be so much easier when it's time to get a mortgage. I kept my Revolut account though, and now I'm once again glad I did because I had to pay the certificates with either a Dutch bank account or Revolut. They write it's possible to pay with credit card but that option was not in the list, imagine that being the next problem, lol.

Step by step

Every day in the past week, there was some sort of good news, first in the form of a reply from the Dutch department explaining me in a few easy steps how to change my address as it some how was still registered in Hungary while the other emigration, this was all processed automatically after registering here in Spain. But where I thought I bumped on another big hurdle, it was just a 1,5 day wait for the answer and then I could fix it for the both of us within just 5 minutes time.

The processing of the change would take 5 days it said but my gut feeling said to check it 24 hours later, and voila, I was right and very pleased to see it was processed already and with that I knew I could order our birth certificates. I swear these tiny victories make me so happy as it's a lot of work to figure it all out and then to get it sorted if there's one bump on the road that makes something impossible to get done. It's not like you can walk into a Dutch office from here so if they don't respond quickly, it's frustrating.. But thankfully for me, they have all been very responsive in the past weeks, lucky me!

It's all long overdue

All this paperwork, I mean, we've been living together for forever and it would have been so much smarter tax wise to have this from day one after moving here because our taxes went up A LOT from Budapest to here due to no flat tax rate. But in the end, the most important thing is it's getting done now and the way things are moving now, I'm even going to dive into the most horrible part of getting something sorted from Hungary which is them messing up something I've sent by registered mail, which was received but they didn't process it there. My Hungarian sucks, Google and Hungarian translations are shit too and we've already spent too many weeks in total on this matter, headache after headache. Now I feel I should take advantage of this momentum and get that sorted too when I have all these from my to do list.

Meanwhile

I'm also trying to get the new forms to swap schools next year so we can finally get back to walking to school but this seems to be harder due to schools here not being so on top of emails :) I should just be bold and walk in as then I probably get it fixed within 5 minutes but I just love doing everything online so I have some reference later in case something is not clear after all.

And on top of that, I'm slowly but surely digging into some techy stuff which I can help my boyfriend with in his business and he secretly (or not so secretly) hopes that I will own that shit better than he does so he can focus on other aspects. I have to say that so far I'm excited and I can see it happening. I've often not acted upon his advice promptly, but the newer (smarter?) me has been following his lead by acting quicker, even if the task is very daunting and funnily enough since I started doing that, things have been going so much smoother and I get so much more done. I still have a few headaches to get out of the way without a solution on how to do it, but I feel proud on what I've achieved in the past month. And all of that without the treadmill, lol as it's still out for repair!

Some more promotion for a lovely lady of Hive @llunasoul, she's so talented, check out her account!

I will gladly admit that he's right :)

I hope my boyfriend proves me right about me being great at where he needs help, as it means a lot of job opportunities will open up once I get experienced and certified in that field. Meanwhile, all the creative ideas are also slowly making some progress because by the end of this year, I want to have several things up and running. I feel tons of inspiration and really trying to get things flowing the way they are now.

I hope your day has been just as productive and satisfying as mine was, if not, tomorrow is another day, and let's try again tomorrow!

I'm so glad things are going so well with the paperwork nightmare! Going to Spain the taxes may go up buy it's a nicer place to live, I may be biased since I speak Spanish... That's exciting that soon it will all be up and running.

Those are great postcards, she is very talented!
