The Drama of Wrestling: BabyFaces, Heels, and Social Media Personalities

Hey there lovely people of the Hive Universe! It's your wrestling boy P, always happy to bring you content and updates on everything WWE, WOOGame, and Wrestling Worldwide.

What makes wrestling so interesting?

Well, that answer is easy: Same reason people love movies and telenovelas.

There is the good guy, which everybody loves and wants to see victorious at the end, and then we have the bad guy who gets defeated.

Same thing applies to wrestling:

Good guys and bad guys, the heroes and the villains.

In wrestling, these characters are called baby faces and heels. Baby Faces are the good guys, and heels are the bad guys.

Sometimes it seems to me that fans can change a wrestler’s character completely. For example, we might really love a heel because he is doing an amazing job in the ring; so we begin cheering for him until one day he turns face.

It is interesting how fans’ opinions can determine the trajectory of a wrestler’s storyline.

I also find it intriguing how wrestlers may change their characters. They could start out as babyfaces but then become heels or vice versa.

Classical Example:

The Rock. Before this year began, he was a baby face, but due to the turn of events he had to play heel, and he is doing it quite well.

This keeps things fresh and exciting for fans, and I love watching these people develop over time.

Legendary good guys such as John Cena, and Stone Cold Steve Austin, while Ric Flair and Triple H are among some of the best bad guys. It really is amazing how these wrestlers can make us either love or hate them just by how they play their characters in the ring.

But hey, not every character change does well.

Sometimes, it doesn’t match the storyline or fans do not like it. It’s sad when that happens, but it's all part of the drama of wrestling.

I’ve also been fascinated at how wrestlers use social media to display their personalities. The interesting thing is seeing how they may act differently on Twitter or Instagram over the ring persona that they portray.

Classical Example is Dominic Mysterio. During his recent wedding ceremony, we could all see the real person on display as he danced with his mum, whom he called a "deadbeat mum" on Monday Night Raw.

So he didn't really mean it guys, it was just for the storyline.

This adds a layer to who those people are as well as making them more accessible to fans.

All in all, wrestling is more than just fighting in a ring, it’s a world full of stories and dramas that keep us interested.
