Top with batwing sleeves/ Top mit Fledermausärmeln.

Hello everyone here in the NeedleWorkMonday Community, after some more rummaging around at home to sort out, I got my hands on some long forgotten fabrics and was immediately motivated to do something clever with them.

Hallo an alle hier in der NeedleWorkMonday-Community. Nachdem ich zu Hause noch etwas herumgestöbert habe, um auszusortieren, habe ich einige längst vergessene Stoffe in die Hände bekommen und war sofort motiviert, etwas Gescheites damit zu machen.

I like to wear longer shirts so I can wear them with leggings without the whole crotch showing, because I think that's terrible and inappropriate.
The current fashion is cut in such a way that everything is skin tight and you feel like your skin is swallowing the garment.
I don't feel comfortable in that at all, so I thought I'd just copy patterns from my favourite hits and sew them out of the lovely cotton jersey. It worked wonderfully and the result is something to behold.

Ich trage gerne längere Shirts, damit ich sie mit Leggings tragen kann, ohne dass man den ganzen Schritt sieht, denn das finde ich schrecklich und unpassend.
Die aktuelle Mode ist so geschnitten, dass alles hauteng ist und man das Gefühl hat, dass die Haut das Kleidungsstück verschluckt.
Darin fühle ich mich überhaupt nicht wohl, also dachte ich, ich kopiere einfach Schnittmuster von meinen Lieblingshits und nähe sie aus dem schönen Baumwolljersey. Das hat wunderbar funktioniert und das Ergebnis kann sich sehen lassen.

I was able to use almost all the leftover fabric and will certainly create this model again in a different colour. I already have a few ideas floating around in my head. LOOL
After the cutting, the normal sewing with the machine began, for the sleeves and the neckline I made cuffs from the same fabric and sewed them against, stitched once all around and finished.

Ich konnte fast alle Stoffreste verwenden und werde dieses Modell sicher noch einmal in einer anderen Farbe anfertigen. Mir schwirren schon einige Ideen im Kopf herum. LOOL
Nach dem Zuschnitt begann das normale Nähen mit der Maschine, für die Ärmel und den Halsausschnitt habe ich Manschetten aus dem gleichen Stoff angefertigt und angenäht, einmal rundherum abgesteppt und fertig.

I sewed the bottom hem by hand, it is a hidden seam, also called a rolled hem. I used a thread made of 100% silk because cotton usually becomes brittle after a few stitches and gets knotted, which just costs nerves. LOOL
The rolled hem is actually quite simple, you cut a small seam allowance of about 0.5 cm and stitch the thread in a short distance in a V or U line at the top and bottom seam allowance. When piercing at the bottom, you pick up a maximum of 2 threads of the fabric so that it is not visible at the top of the shirt. When I have sewn in sections of 4-5 cm, I tighten the thread slightly and the hem rolls in by itself.

Den unteren Saum habe ich von Hand genäht, es ist eine verdeckte Naht, auch Rollsaum genannt. Ich habe einen Faden aus 100% Seide verwendet, weil Baumwolle normalerweise nach ein paar Stichen brüchig wird und sich verknotet, was nur Nerven kostet. LOOL
Der Rollsaum ist eigentlich ganz einfach, man schlägt eine kleine Nahtzugabe von etwa 0,5 cm ein und sticht den Faden in einem kurzen Abstand in einer V- oder U-Linie an der oberen und unteren Nahtzugabe ein. Beim Einstechen unten nimmt man maximal 2 Fäden des Stoffes auf, so dass es oben auf dem Hemd nicht sichtbar ist. Wenn ich Abschnitte von 4-5 cm eingenäht habe, ziehe ich den Faden leicht an und der Saum rollt sich von selbst ein.

I secure every 4-5 cm so that it gets more stability and doesn't unravel. If that should happen, then you only need to sew these 4-5 cm again by hand instead of the whole hem.

Ich sichere alle 4-5 cm, damit es mehr Stabilität bekommt und sich nicht auflöst. Wenn das passieren sollte, dann braucht man nur diese 4-5 cm noch einmal von Hand zu nähen, anstatt den ganzen Saum.

Thanks to the batwing sleeves, I didn't have to sew in any extra sleeves and have a great width in the shirt for more freedom of movement. Nevertheless, I can combine the outfit in a sporty or elegant way and make it more chic with a belt at the waist. There are no limits to the possibilities here and you can decorate it however you like, I will come up with decorating techniques for the next shirt.

Dank der Fledermausärmel musste ich keine zusätzlichen Ärmel einnähen und habe eine große Weite im Shirt für mehr Bewegungsfreiheit. Trotzdem kann ich das Outfit sportlich oder elegant kombinieren und mit einem Gürtel in der Taille noch schicker machen. Den Möglichkeiten sind hier keine Grenzen gesetzt und man kann es nach Lust und Laune verzieren, ich werde mir für das nächste Shirt Verzierungstechniken einfallen lassen.
