The Frustrations of a Music Director: Dealing with an Uncooperative Choir.

Truly, they say it is very hard to be a leader, but when you are a leader, you have to act as one. And being a leader does not really mean you will take bad attitudes from those you are leading, but one has to be harsh sometimes to correct things so that they fall in the right place. What made me talk about this is what a music director suffers when trying to teach some choir and harmony songs. This song was initially not supposed to take more than an hour for the choirs to get hold of it, but they didn't, which made their music director very annoyed.

What happened? We are preparing to go for a retreat in a place a bit of distance from where we are, so we have to travel down to the place for about some days, and when we get there, we have to do some ministrations that will truly show that we know what we are doing. So the music director took out his time to split the part of the song into soprano, auto, tenor and bass and sent everything into each part group before the rehearsal so that this wouldn't cause issues or draw the rehearsal back when it's time.

All his hopes were very high because he felt he had done a good job, and I was even encouraging him for the work he did, taking time to do so much because of a song she wouldn't take anything from or get any rewards from it. When it was time for the rehearsal, he stood in front of the choir members and told them to sing the song he dropped. No one could do it, and some claimed they didn't see it because they wanted a genuine excuse for their actions.

This was very sad, even for myself. I was very annoyed because I know what it takes to split song parts, and after he had done a lot of stress like that, the only thing they could reward him with was not to listen to the song. Then the music director had to leave the rehearsal and got annoyed because he would have to start afresh again instead of just continuing from where he stopped. This is why not everyone can lead in a place because we know how to handle things differently, and this was the height of it.

He lashed at everyone and gave them his peace of mind, and they all apologized not to do that again. And ever since then, whatever he does for every part member, they follow it straight with full concentration, and even if they have any issues, they will communicate them to him, and he will sort them out with them.

That's sad indeed but at least things were fixed in the end. Sometimes people take things easy when the leader stays quiet. !PIZZA

Yeah, you are very correct about that, because they do not know the next line of action..
