Trains Churches and Swans on my Scottish morning walk

Hello Hello Hivians

By heck it is windy out. I had to go to the train station this morning to print out some tickets which I wanted to change the dates for. Apparantly I have to print out tickets, send them to Edinburgh for a partial refund. This walk then is from my house to the train station and back via a few places.

Typical Scottish summer weather according to the forcast,wind showers sun and cloud, who knew what would be in store!

You can tell by the overgrown foilage that summer is here! You don't really know that there is a train track there.

One of the beauties in the UK is houses made out of stone, well they have to be to keep the fluffing wind out!

But it does make for gorgeous shot with flowers from the front garden...

All the spring blossom type plants and shrubs are ending their colourful additions to nature.

We do get one last hurrah and splash of colour as the cover the earthen floor...

I do love going past this house, the garden looks quite minimalist but also tropical with the palm type plants...

Decisions Decisions Decisions

We are running parallel to the train track but it veers off at an angle so we can either hang a right at the roundabout or go straight on...

Can you guess whichway we went?

The church gave it away, we went straight over the roundabout...

I tell you what the church looks gorgeous in the sunshine and blue and white sky.

I call it the church on the hill, but there is the stone again, I love it, the older I get the more I appreciate architecture here.

I delayed posting this until today.

It is the 80th anniversary of D-Day today 6th June 1944.

My utmost respect to all the veterans who have crossed the channel to France for celebrations today.

I wonder what they all think, they fought to give us our freedom but look at us now!

Sometimes I like to take black and white pictures, it can give an air of sombreness which I think is appropriate for D-Day.

This was the view back towards the roundabout.

Everytime I walk past this grave stone I stop and say a hello to Les Steward. I never knew him, but he is descrobed as

A GENTLE MAN
A GENTLEMAN

I would like to think that that also applies to me. Off the top of my head I can't think of a more humbling and honourable remembrance as that.

The church and graveyard sit on a corner plot so quite often I will wander through it.

Yes we are close to Kirkcaldy train station. What symbol does your national railway use?

Up onto the platform I went, to use a machine to print out the tickets.

Only to discover as I had paid with PayPal I could not print the tickets out.

So today I need to find out who I get this refund!

Of course I can never resist popping it to do some shopping!

Chocolate, I had not had any for ages, so am munching on some as I write this...

I took a different route back and this is the church from across the road.

Into the park I went to see what was going on there.

This old gate lodge is being renovated and will be a kids nursery I believe. So far it looks like they are doing a good job.

I made my way over to the pond and look who came hurtling through the water to me ...

It was Susie Swan...

I was happy to see her but had not brought any food.

A few months ago we got the sad news that her mate Stevie Swan had passed away.

They say swans mate for life so I was a bit worried what would happen with her.

She seems fine enough and three of her last brood are still here.

Interestingly enough they are still here. Normally dad Steve gets rid of the kids, he really did drive them out and away!

Do you see her feathers like that, she is not amused when then wings are like that then she senses danger.

This time it was dogs at the other side of the pond and one was in the water.

Away she went to restore order in her pond!

The is was time to go through the park Stonehenge ...

It is the rose garden which seems to have less and less roses in it every year and they get smaller and smaller!

You know what ... I was out walking for over an hour and there was no rain!

That seems like a lot of mess just to get some tickets swapped out. You would think they would have an easier way to do it. At least you got a nice walk out of it and you got to see some cool sights along the way!

It's a fluffing nightmare, at this rate I will be raising a dispute in PayPal! Yeah I went back to the pond today with a shed load of food. I reckon daddy must have done his fair share of food gathering as I have not seen them wolf down the food pellets as fast as they did this morning before.

[I call it the church on the hill], Indeed, I could even see it from your distance image before reaching. It's a magnificent figure, I wonder how long it has stood.
About the D-day, I am still not getting a full glimpse, what's up?

The Normandy landings were the landing operations and associated airborne operations on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II. Codenamed Operation Neptune and often referred to as D-Day, it is the largest seaborne invasion in history. The operation began the liberation of France, and the rest of Western Europe, and laid the foundations of the Allied victory on the Western Front.

It was the start of victory for the Allies in WW2 and of course Germany and Japan surrendered next year in 1945.

So yesterday and today there many parades and celebrations in Normandy in France with soldiers who are still alive all in their 90s and 100s to honour their fallen comrades in arms.

The church now that is Abbotshall Church and was REbuilt in 1788, the original was built in 1650. It makes me feel young when I mention dates like that!

A full hour of good old vitamin D with yellow orb hanging over thee, while scurrying through the grave yard showing the town. Great walk to and from, pity about train ticket purchase becoming painful to refund, perhaps go!

Yes that yellow orb was somewhere but it is always good to get out in the fresh air. Today ... it was rain!

If I read correctly a big weather cut-off system in Northern hemisphere bringing wet weather in June to your region, yup Summer!

We went through similar with a tornado touching down close to where we live over the last couple of days, plenty snow throughout our mountain ranges, so cool 🤣
