Some ska punk from The Clash in ttt156

avatar

Tuesday for me on Hive means three tune tuesday...

If you know me then you know I love to take my inspiration from somewhere.

Well this week is no different!

Today the inspiration comes from procrastinating!

Yes fluffing procrastinating! So last week there was an inleo prompt about your favourite music genre. Of course I have a fair few, soit was hard to think of my favourite.

By the time I had settled on what it was and got ready to post, either the day was a day later or the InLeo UI was shall we say being problematic!

Well no worries it gives me a great excuse to play three songs from one of the most iconic bands of all time that span mutilple genres....

So a wee tribute to The Clash

It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!

3 years of Three Tune Tuesday ... thank you @ablaze

@ablaze started #ttt 156 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his last post Celebrating Three Years of Three Tune Tuesday - Week 156 - 12 HBI

Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the TWELVE sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!

Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday

Today we are going to have fun with some Clash songs specifically the ska punk genre!

image.png

Today being three years since @ablaze started Thee Tune Tuesday he based his songs on the number 3 ..... and include a Clash song as one of his selections ...

So perhaps it is appropriate that there is a 3 in the number of songs that were released by the Clash....

Can you guess how many were released?

the answer .... One hundred and thirtynine or 139 songs from The Clash ...

Check them out in All 139 the Clash Songs, Ranked From Worst to Best

I wonder where mine will rank, pretty similar I would think as they will be all the same genre as in ska punk.

Before the music purists get all third waveon me and say The Clash weren't a ska punk band in the way The Specials, Madness, Operation Ivy, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and all the others were. Well they were'nt and they were much earlier that most of them too.

The Clash - Wrong Em Boyo

So the first pick I thought I would give you a live version all the way in the USA no less. Wrong Em Boyo was Recorded Live: 3/8/1980 - Capitol Theatre - Passaic, NJ...

Number 41 on that list and it is from the 1979 album London Calling, probably my favourite album of all time by any band or musician!

It starts off as a cover of Wrong Em Boyo by The Rulers then ... well ... off it goes into a new song entirely lol!

The Clash - The Guns of Brixton

Oh boy we are back to 1979 and London Calling again, I did say this was possibly my favourite of all time!

If someone was coming to take you out — gang, government, whatever — it was always better to fight than to go meekly... I agree with this, do you?

Brixton was home to huge riots back in the back...

We finish with one that has sentimental reasons

The Clash - (White Man) in Hammersmith Palais,

A single that was released in 1977. A year after they were playing full blown punk, what a transformation...

I worked in Hammersmith when I was wotking in London, and I saw many many bands play at the Hammersmith Palais, alas it is not there anymore...

I hope that you enjoyed these Clash tunes.

Which was your favourite (if any) ?

Note: The three YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.

I wish that you all have a brilliant rest of your week, and until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶

Love The Clash Ed, I had no idea they released so many tunes!!! My fav is of course London calling but you didn't list?? I quite like all your choices though, it must have been good to see many bands in London back in the day.

It is interesting as I not sure those three are my favourite three Clash songs but I was trying to get some of their ska punk genre.
They had loads of songs and most of them I enjoy.
Yeah back in the day saw loads of bands in Hammy Palais especially reggae punk and ska a right old mixture Steve.

The Clash is another one of those bands that I have never really dug into too deeply. I really should. I only know their hits that were big in the US.

Yes I actually put a recorded live in the US version with you in mind. I wondered how big they were over there!

My first time hearing about The Clash. But then when it is Three Tunes Tuesday, there's no knowing how many songs from yesteryears one will get to learn about.

Wow, three years of consistency. That's lovely and commendable. My first time of listening to the songs listed and I can say that I love "The clash." The good old days. Some of the work of art of decades ago remain evergreen. Thank you for sharing with us.
