Hawaii is a masterpiece from PiL ~ RIP Nora Forster

Hello Hello to all music-loving Hivians

It is Tuesday and that of course means two things ....

☑️ Firstly it is #tengotuesday and that means Episode 14 of Talk Time with Tengo is on tonight ...

☑️ And secondly, it is #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes!

The songs you will hear today have been picked by me! It all started from reading a Hive post (inspiration is everywhere)!

Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday

Threetunetuesday is a great excuse for me to find a story for a reason to share three of my favourite tunes!

Formalities over, let's get down to it

Today is no exception, I was reading that news post John Lydon's wife Nora Forster dies from Alzheimer's at 80

If you love your punk like me then you will know John Lydon is the front man for P.I.L or Public Image Limited.

He was never afraid to speak his mind, and would be rebuttled and banned all over the place.

Tune 1 Public Image Limited - This Is Not A Love Song

This was his response to getting grief for not having more marketable songs from the record label chiefs...

This actually became their biggest commercial hit.

Tune 2 Public Image Limited - Death Disco

Some of you might be thinking John Lydon I didn't remember him from the Sex Pistols, that is because his stage name when he was in the Sex Pistols was Johnny Rotten.

This is another song that was written and recorded from a request.

This time in 1979 it was his dying mother's wish to have him write a disco song to be played at her funeral.

Tune 3 Public Image Ltd - Hawaii

Maybe I should have started the post with this tune.

You might recall his wife Nora passed away from Alzheimers.

If any of you have cared for or have family with dementia then you know how heart breaking it is.

My mother had vascular dementia, and we had six months of torture feeling for her. My father passed away and every day for six months she would ask where he was.

That was when I learnt white lies can be good. Very quickly we stopped telling her father passed away in reply to her question where was he.

Absolutely soul destroying seeing what dementia does to your loved ones.

Well done John Lydon for writing this and helping being more awareness to Alzheimers and dementia.

This quite possibly is his greatest and saddest ever song in a quite wonderful career.

I hope that you enjoyed these tunes from PiL

Which was your favourite (if any) ?

Note: The three YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.

I wish that you all have a brilliant rest of your week, and until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶

The last song was my favourite, good to see Johnny Rotten with another bad, such a different sound.

Very true about dementia, it is heartbreaking.

John Lydon is an handsome guy. The first song got me smiling with how he was saying "this is not a love song". The beat too is cool and amazing. These are lovely songs from John Lydon and I can see you have taste in selecting beautiful tunes.

Quite sad that I can't listen to the songs now. When I get to the office, I'll make use of their WiFi...LMAO. Color me broke.
But your story linked to each tune has me curious.

Like I mentioned, I wouldn't have even guessed this😅. It's my first time hearing from him

He really sings without any form of fear and that great. Those are quite some stories behind his songs,.. tch.

The last was my best of the trio; on a good day, I would choose "this is not a love song"😅

on a good day,

hmm what did that mean?

Yeah he has been at the heart of British music since the 70s! And yeah Hawaii only recorded a couple of months ago.

The punk with the heart of gold.

hmm what did that mean?

My alter ego would go for the first piece.

Hawaii only recorded a couple of months ago.

That means he still into music. That's nice.

It looks like most of the videos aren't available in my area. I am sure it is great stuff though! It's horrible that people have to go through that. My grandma had a mild case of it before she passed, but luckily nothing super serious. I can't even imagine what it is like to deal with this.

Johnny Rotten is indeed a pretty amazing person. I always take celebrities with a grain of salt, but one of the things I really admire about him is his honesty and his refusal to sell out, so to speak. Very awesome.

Snap me too, but yes the ones who don't sell out I will listen to. His honesty is refreshing.

I could be wrong i could be right (😉 you see what I did there?) but I think this was a wonderful post and you are spot on, dementia is profoundly cruel. Out of these I'd say this is not a love song I reckon. I enjoyed his little dalliance with Leftfield aswell with Open Up, that was ace

hehe very clever!

Open Up

Oh man I completely forgot about that with Leftfield, was a belter too!

Yeah dementia is not good at all:(

Yeah, I saw it live with PIL (unfortunately not with Sex Pistols) two times and I follow the band. This last songe, about the death of his wife not been heard yet but it's a great tune. Thanks for sharing.
btw: I'm thinking sometimes that I have dementia ... I forgot the names, things, and abbreviations... it's scary :(

The last song was only released in January and I think that is when he knew it was only a matter of time before she passed away. She was 80 and he was 69.
It is scary because we are all forgetful and forget more things the older we get. Then it is a case of is it because we are getting older or just noticing it more or is dementia.

Now what was I saying 🤣

Thanks man, really appreciate that shout out.. Fair play to ya.

This Is Not A Love Song was a great F you by Mr. Lydon, some legend so he is!

This time in 1979 it was his dying mother's wish to have him write a disco song to be played at her funeral.

Nice bit of history there man, I never knew that, always like that about your #ttt posts, I almost always come away having learned something.

You did indeed save the best till last and some gorgeous words and sad ones at that, but it's nice to remember and it was nice of you all to go with the lie and not break your Mother's heart every time she relearned that he was gone, may they both rest in peace man.

Cheers man.

I am not a musician so can't drop my own songs on ttt, but if I can have some anecdotes on my posts to do with the tunes, then that will do for me.

Yeah dementia is so cruel. She was a type 1 diabetic so of course we had to stop letting her inject herself with insulin. Too much and game over, so we ended up hiding up!

Appreciate your words very much.

Well you more than make up for it with the anecdotes.

Life can be so tough sometimes.
