Are all politicians corrupt?

Sometimes I really do wonder.

Having worked all over the world in the Oil and Gas Industry bribery and corruption was something you dealt with quite often on a daily basis.

I do remember whilst working for the American oil company Marathon, we actually had special training for when dealing with local government officials in West Africa.

It was shocking and it does not really seem to have got better.

As usual it is the ordinary people that suffer from the greed of the privileged.

UK covid WhatsApp messages deleted by politicians

The big news that will not go away now that Covid enquiries are being undertaken and could more have been done is the appearance or is that non appearance of messages on WhatsApp.

Leaders in England and Scotland have been accused of deliberately deleting some of these messages ahead of the enquiry so they won't be incriminated etc. The excuses they are coming up with are hilarious.

Deleted due to recovering storage space, I didn't know I deleted them, it is a new app for me!

Seriously, wtf!

Motorhome

Then we have the Scottish National Party the current (well at the moment) ruling party in Scotland, and previous First Minister being accused of spending over £100,000 pounds on a fluffing motor home using tax payers money.

The list goes on and on.

Imran Khan

This week of course we found out that Pakistan have sentenced Bushra Bibi and her husband Pakistani ex-PM Imran Khan to jail and fined them more than $2m each in a corruption case.

Khan's case is intruiging, during his reign as PM, the economy collapsed, the cost of living soared, many of his political opponents were jailed, media freedoms were curbed and human rights violations and attacks against journalists increased.

The couple were found guilty of "illegally selling gifts - including perfumes, dinner sets and diamond jewellery - through their aides in Dubai during Khan's time in office. According to Reuters news agency, these gifts were worth more than 140 million rupees ($501,000; £395,000)." according to news sources

Focus shifted to India

Is it all revenge or is there something in the fact that so many opposition leaders in India are facing high-profile investigations led by India's central agencies.

First of all India's Hemant Soren of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) party resigned from the position of the chief minister of Jharkhand state.

Then he was questioned on Wednesday for 7 hours by the financial crimes agency.

Finally after this questioning he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and has been accused of corruption, allegations that he has denied.

Mr Soren has already challenged his arrest in India's Supreme Court. He is calling his arrest politically motivated which of course sounds all too familiar. His case will be heard on Friday.

The JMM has called the investigation against Mr Soren a politically motivated "witch-hunt".

His party JMM has also named transport minister Champai Soren as the next chief minister of the eastern state.

No smoke without fire?

The $$$ allegations

The case against Mr Soren all centres around a piece of land that he allegedly owns in Ranchi city, the capital of Jharkhand.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) claims that Mr Sore bought the property through "proceeds of crime" by illegally selling land owned by the Indian army.

Mr Soren of course is denying the charge by saying that the property was "wrongfully alleged to be owned" by him.

When I read your words "Khan's case is intruiging, during his reign as PM, the economy collapsed, the cost of living soared, many of his political opponents were jailed, media freedoms were curbed and human rights violations and attacks against journalists increased." it looks like if you are talking about my country...(Venezuela) and it is so far from the another countries you are talking about.

Sadly it is so: all politicians are bad persons using their power only to bring money to theirselves. They can kill people by money. Money is the only thing they love.
